Who: Lucy Elkins & Belinda Tatting
What: A spontaneous rainstorm thanks to WWW
Where: Near the Great Hall
When: This evening
Rating/Warnings: TBA but probably PG

Lucy had skipped dinner. It wasn't that she wasn't hungry. In fact, she was rather starving when the time for dinner came. But it hadn't been the best of days for Lucy Elkins. After having woken up fifteen minutes later than she would have preferred, she missed breakfast and after smuggling toast, she proceeded to be late for her first class. Lucy was never late for her classes. In fact, she was usually the first one there.

The day moved on rather slowly and more than once, Lucy dropped her books or tripped in one way or another on her walk from class to class. Her favorite quill snapped in the middle of a lecture and left a rather nasty looking ink blot on her notes causing her to start them all over again. She couldn't stand a mess and especially when it interfered with her studying.

The decided day from hell had tired out the girl so much, she had taken a nap in hopes of shaking whatever black cloud was following her. And this caused her to miss dinner.

Now, a black cardigan hugged tightly around Lucy's tee shirt and trousers, she walked down the corridor in hopes of picking up something to eat to satiate her growling stomach. She wasn't sure Roger's gift box from Honeydukes would be enough to tide her over.

And that was when it began to drizzle.

"I never said it did," Lucy said simply.

She rolled up the sleeves of her jumper as her brow furrowed in concern for the girl. She was awfully angry and incredibly hostile in only a few short moments. Sometimes Lucy wondered how Nikolas could spend time in the Slytherin Common Room with girls like her mulling about. It couldn't be very easy.

But before thinking it further, as Lucy was sure the other girl would have no time to stand around and wait, Lucy began to move about the Entrance Hall. She paid careful attention to the small puddles forming as she began to peek in the corners.

"Were you going to help? Or just stand there and watch me?" she asked, though there was no bite to her voice. She was just curious to know if she would have help.

Belinda watched while the other girl began to look in corners. How common. At the question, she supposed she ought to do something, though. Pulling out her wand, she pronounced "Finite Incantatem."

A moment's pause revealed that the rain was still falling - it hadn't worked.

Hesitant to do anything that wasn't seemly, Belinda stood and thought. What other options did she have? Accio the cause of the rain? That would likely make her even more wet than she already was, and she could do without that. Further thoughts came up equally dry.

"Finite Incantatem."

Lucy had held her breath as the other girl cast her spell. When the rain didn't stop, she understood that no one had cast this sudden downpour. She leaned against the wall, her one hand on her hip as she tried to work through this strange phenomenon. If someone hadn't cast a rain spell, than it had to be coming from something.

She suddenly wondered if it had taken over the whole castle or if it had been limited to just the Entrance Hall.

"It was a nice attempt," Lucy told the girl, finding no reason to not be nice. "I figure it's got to be some sort of charm. Do you think it's raining in the whole castle?"

At the girl's question, she shivered. "I certainly hope it is just the Entrance Hall, or possibly a few more corridors. I would rather not find my dormitory soaked."

Belinda was starting to feel distinctly uncomfortable. Honestly, you'd think there would be a teacher or prefect or someone else she could shove this job onto. But as this girl seemed to expect her to help, she couldn't just leave. Not without appearing unforgivably rude. Especially as she seemed to be trying to be so bloody nice.

Her thoughts resulted in a quizzical expression, and a "we could always leave and get Filch to deal with it."

As the possibility of soggy sheets came clear to Lucy, she realized that this could become a bigger mess than she originally imagined. Of course, she had a feeling the house elves could fix everything in due time but what a task that would be for them! She tapped her foot against the now wet floors, a small puddle splashing as she did so.

"It seems this might have been meant for Filch, anyway," Lucy mused aloud. "And besides, that wouldn't be very nice. I doubt Mrs. Norris would like the rain very much."

Just the thought of the old, mangled cat stuck in the rain was enough to cause Lucy to laugh.

Belinda had to agree - this would be the ideal set-up for Filch, and it would be virtually impossible for him to clean up, if it was a challenge for them. And Mrs. Norris...

Belinda's attitude cracked, and she smiled slightly. "No," she said, her voice holding it's previous tone, but her smile indicating that she wasn't being totally bitchy, "I think she would quite despise it."

"But, if it is meant for Filch, should we not just leave it for him?"
