That wasn't the answer she'd expected, and she was still for a moment, unsure how she felt about it. Good, she supposed, since there wasn't anything to be done about it. And at least he understood. So much more than she'd been expecting. "It wasn't easy to ignore once it started...moving," she said with a tiny smile. "I'll get it checked, Remus, don't worry. If it were contagious, wouldn't that...I don't know. Wouldn't that be common knowledge? Add fuel to the rubbish that's already out there. And wouldn't that make biting others unnecessary?"
Now she was the one trying to rationalise this, because frankly the thought of how Remus would react to a baby with lycanthropy scared the shite out of her. Not the baby itself; she was certain in their ability to do this so long as they were together. But she was afraid for Remus.
She reached out to take his hand, hoping he would allow for such a gesture. "Remus," she said, focusing on him without any hint of doubt in her voice or expression. "You will be a brilliant father, and this--baby will be lucky to have you in its life. I'm so incredibly lucky, and I'm sorry I don't say that enough." She paused. "Do you want to come with me? When I see a healer? Hestia was by yesterday, and if you'd like to know, she told me the--er, gender, but it was informal, and you're right. There are things we ought to look into. Together, if you'd like. I'd like that when you're ready."
