Who: Roger Davies
When: 12th January, 1998 (Backdated)
Where: Tutshill Tornados' Practice Pitch
What: Roger has a fantastic practice, before he breaks his arm.
Rating: PG-13
Ah, this was the life. The chilly wind beating him against the face, the freezing rain making his fingers feel like blocks of ice, the captain shouting at him to get his head in the game...
"DAVIES! WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING? IF THAT'S WHAT YOU CALL YOUR BEST, DO US ALL A FAVOUR AND USE THE KILLING CURSE ON YOURSELF RIGHT NOW! DO YOU THINK WE'RE GOING TO BEAT FALMOUTH WITH THAT HALF-ARSED SHITE?"
Ah. Yes, this was the life.
Okay, so today's practice wasn't going as well as it usually did, at least on Roger's end. But was it his fault that the wizarding world was going batty and he couldn't help but be distracted by it? No, he didn't think so.
Anyway, he had done pretty damn well these past few games. It was their Seeker that needed extra help. If he would just figure out how to catch that damn snitch before the other Seeker did, they might have won against Montrose and Holyhead earlier in the season. Their scores were decent, when you took into account that the Tutshill Chasers were scoring more points than their opponent's Chasers. Now if only their Seeker would get a clue, they might start winning the games.
Sure, it could be argued that Roger could try scoring even more points, but he could only do so much on his own.
Muttering to himself, Roger's gave the captain, Birch, a glare before flying off to consult with the other Chasers on which formations they wanted to work on. The rest of the practice passed in a blur, with Roger only minimally distracted. Near the end of practice, he was thinking about dropping by Angelina's, just to relax and maybe pick on Ned and Katie, when something terrible happened.
The Beaters had been passing the two Bludgers back and forth between each other, trying to polish up their tricks, when one went spiraling out of control. Roger's thoughts had just turned from dropping by Angelina's to being lost in a fantasy (that had gone horribly wrong) that involved Cho Chang, Angelina, and a very disgusted Ned, when he felt a familiar kind of pain in his arm. It was the wayward Bludger ramming into him, breaking his arm in the very spot he had broken it once before during his tenure as the Ravenclaw Quidditch Captain.
Spinning out of control, his broom went plummeting toward the grassy pitch. The ground was soggy and muddy, which helped cushion the crash, but he landed right on his injured arm. He passed out immediately from the pain.
Life sucked.
