Who: Blaise Zabini & Nikolas Vaisey When: Saturday, 9 January, 1998 Where: Hogsmeade, Honeydukes Sweetshop What: A random run-in while buying some delicious candies. Rating: G or PG I would think
After the Quidditch retrials that morning, which had lasted nearly two hours, had made Nikolas much more tired than he'd thought they would. It wasn't as though he'd had to do much - after all, he was already on the team. He didn't have to impress anybody. Still, he'd been surprised that there was a substantial turnout. Mostly students fifth year and below, but Nikolas had honestly though his accidentally scheduling it the morning of a Hogsmeade visit would have kept the numbers low. He was glad, though, that Millicent had been there, and had put up an impressive show. She, at least, had surely earned a spot on the reserves, as he'd been hoping.
Not wanting to let a tiring morning ruin the rest of a perfectly good opportunity to escape the castle for a few hours, Nikolas had set out for Hogsmeade after quickly changing his clothes and sowing his equipment away in the dorms. The town seemed cold, and somehow emptier than usual. People didn't seem as happy to be there, either. He didn't need to think very hard to figure out why - it even seemed that less students had come out. Even Harold didn't seem keen on the trip today, so Nikolas had just come alone.
Not sure where to stop first, he hung a quick right and stepped in to Honeydukes. It was warm here, at least, and he had promised to send some sweets home to Astrid as soon as he could. He began to browse the shelves, immediately taking some peppermint toads and ice mice, which he knew she especially liked. As he neared the display of licorice wands, Nikolas felt a hard bump on his shoulder as he accidentally hit up against another shopper.
Looking up to apologize, he saw that it was in fact someone he knew. "Oh, Blaise. Sorry, mate." Feeling that should be satisfactory, Nikolas began to continue on.
