"If they had her don't you think I'd have done anything to get her back!" Lovegood answered, vehemently, and then he drew his wand, shaking his head. "I'm afraid I can't let you go. Don't you see? That was the condition. I find a way to get you to meet here, and they'd give her back when they had you. His daughter was more important, even than the fate of the entire bloody world.
"You're just going to hand him over?" Hermione stared at Lovegood in shock. "He's the only one who could help Luna! Help everyone!"
"That really doesn't matter without my daughter here," Lovegood answered, and then he heard a noise downstairs and nodded. "And it's too late, anyway."
