Entry tags:!1997: 11, !incomplete, kira rackharrow, rodolphus lestrange

Who: Rodolphus Lestrange and Kira Rackharrow
When: November 17, 1997 (so backdated XD)
Where: Out and about?
What: Kira's on the hunt and Rodolphus is on a recruiting idea.
Rating: Probably low? TBD
Open/Closed: Closed

Kira was annoyed with the Ministry. Certainly she liked that she worked there and had access to all the knowledge that was kept there, but they limited her on subjects. Now rodents and other animals worked well, but she knew that sometimes curses acted differently on animals then they did on people and that wouldn't give her accurate results for her work. So Kira decided that she was going to find her own test subjects. No one would miss some homeless muggles and she could work off some aggression if she used her most favored curse. She'd just have to make sure she got enough.

So when work ended Kira quickly made her way out of the Ministry, ignoring her colleagues that called out to her. She didn't want to socialize today and play the good little employee. She stopped at the apparation area, contemplating just leaving from there before shaking her head. She needed to think this through further to make certain she didn't let her aggravation get the best of her. With what she was planning she needed to be careful and not make mistakes.

"Damned regulations," she muttered under her breath as she pulled her robe closer to her body, paying little attention to the people she was passing as she went.

Since the takeover of the Ministry and their establishment of Thicknesse as the new Minister, Rodolphus had fallen in to a rut - then the sanction came to begin building the backbone of this new group to act out where he and his brothers could not, and he had a mission again.

They had the blood status of everyone in the Ministry, and personnel reports suggested that this Rackharrow would be a good candidate. He had found out that she was a woman, and reconsidered, but one look at his wife had reminded him just how intensely devoted such women could be.

And so, when the halls had begun to clear, he took pleasure in the fact that he could walk without a mask in this place. He was recognized, and no one did a damn thing about it. By the time he found her, he was smirking in glee at the terrified glances from some of them. He ought to take a little tour of the Auror's offices - let them see how useless they were now.

As she came down the hallway, he stepped into her path to block it.

What the? Kira scowled when someone blocked her way and she nearly simply sidestepped them and kept moving. Really the only thing that stopped her from doing that was how annoyed she already was. She stopped, took a deep breath in and looked at the person who had stopped her, ready to lay into them. The breath came wooshing back out of her as she stared at him in wide eyed wonder. He was certainly one of the last people he expected to be stopping her.

"Are you...," she trailed off, looking him over and casting her mind back to what she knew about Rodolphus Lestrange. "Wow."

She probably shouldn't have said that, but it just rather slipped out. After all this was the Rodolphus Lestrange. She didn't honestly expect to ever meet him. "Is there something I can help you with?"

There was no horror in that look - that was both a good thing and something that Rodolphus would have to work to correct. As it was, one eyebrow arched as she stumbled through her recognition, and then he cleared his throat. "A conversation, Rackharrow. In private."

A private conversation? This could be either really bad or really good by Kira's standards. "Did you have somewhere in mind? I was on my way out to look for some specimens of a sort, but I could postpone that for now." She could probably take him to her place easily enough since she lived on her own, but she wasn't entirely sure what he wanted.

Rodolphus looked at her as if considering, and then turned on his heel. "Follow me," He said, and stated to lead her back through the Ministry hallways. The new Minister had been kind enough to fire a certain group of undesireables and leave their offices well warded and open.

Oh joy, they were going further into the place she was trying to get away from. There was a part of her that was annoyed, but for the most part she didn't mind. She only hoped that this turned out to be a good conversation rather then one of those ones that people didn't want to have with someone like him. So she followed along dutifully to the room he was heading toward, amazed with the fact that no one was trying to stop him. The way things ran now was so nice.

The door to the office he had only ever used once still opened with a wave of his hand, and he stepped back, allowing her in first so that when he came in behind her the door was well and truly warded. They couldn't be disturbed, and she wouldn't have the option to leave. There was a desk in the office, and bookshelves, neither of which looked as if they had been touched. He remained standing by the door.

"Sit, if you like," he said, indicating the seat near the desk.

"I believe I'll stand, thank you." She wasn't really going to make it easier to intimidate her if this wasn't a going to be a good conversation. She did look around the room in interest, trying to remember what had been in here. Ah well, didn't seem nearly as important as Rodolphus was, so she turned her attention back to him.

"That is a sign of intelligence, at least. I do hope you have more of them. Knowing who I am and confining yourself to a small room with me," He smirked a bit, shrugging as if he didn't care. "Not exactly the cleverest thing one could do. Is it?"

She shrugged unconcernedly as she gazed at him. "Perhaps not, but I'm not unarmed and I am capable of defending myself." Certainly she didn't expect to win in the end, but she could do a fair amount of damage if needed. She just hoped it wasn't needed.

"Are you?" Rodolphus sounded interested enough in the prospect of that, but waved a hand dismissively. "That, also, is a good sign. You must know the way this Ministry is headed, now?"

In all honestly who didn't know the way the Ministry was headed now? But she didn't voice that thought. "Of course. It has been rather hard to miss. I find it to be a much needed and welcomed changed myself."

That seemed to be the right answer, because Rodolphus' strict and straight posture relaxed just a fraction, and he nodded. "Quite," he said, and then cocked his head to the side. "I've seen your records, Rackharrow. For a woman, your peers find you particularly fierce when you want something. It was a family trait, I believe? Your name carries some renown..."

Ah, now that was a little better. It was starting to look like this would be a good conversation after all. "I'm quite certain that fierce isn't the only thing that my peers find me," she replied in amusement, quite amused honestly remembering the sorts of things she'd heard about herself. "I've been bringing back a lot of the old family traits recently."

"Have you?" Rodolphus did indeed sound interested in that. "Any of the more painful ones?"

"I've been updating the Entrail-Expelling Curse, slowing it down rather then making it instantaneous all for the sake of coming up with a possible counter to it, of course." She smirked at that, using quotation marks when talking about coming up with a counter. "And of course I found the ones he was working on when he died and I'm finishing those."

"Ah," Rodolphus said, smirking again. "Well, it will be nice to see those. In practice." His arms dropped to his side, "If you had an opportunity, Rackharrow, to further the purpose of those of real Wizarding blood, would you take it?"

Further the purpose of those of real Wizarding blood? That certainly seemed to be a good thing to her. "If the opportunity presented itself I wouldn't be adverse to taking it. In the end it all comes down to what sort of good I'd be doing and exposure risk."

"What sort of good you'd be doing? You would be taking up your birthright as a true witch," Rodolphus sat on the edge of the empty, unused desk, still rigid even when casual. "And when this movement comes to light, there will be rewards, not risks."

So this was turning out to be a very good conversation. Certainly she could have worded her earlier comments better, but his response was basically what she was hoping for. "Then what exactly would my part be in this? I am most certainly interested in doing my part to keep the magical community heading in the direction it appears to be aimed at right now."
