"It wasn't as empty as it had been by the time I came back," Fiona explained, nodded in agreement with Audrey that Christmas at home was irreplaceable. "But it was a little odd even then. Not bad," she hastened to add, another couple days of the peace and she wouldn't have been complaining. "Just, yeah, it's weird. But there's no fighting for the comfy chairs. And I haven't had to get after at any first years for yelling in here in days." Granted she would have traded any peace and quiet to have spent Hogmanay at home but you had to take the pros where you could find them, she supposed.
