Who: Harry, Open to anyone who could be at the Burrow!
When: Tuesday afternoon
Where: The Burrow
What: Harry's taking a break.
Rating: TBA, tame I'd imagine.
Open/Closed: Open!

Harry had a headache. They'd given up on books for a bit and started going through old copies of the Prophet, searching for matching initials. Ron's floor was more or less covered in newspaper every way they stepped, and Harry's eyes itched from the dust and newsprint of the old papers. Wizarding or muggle - the ink in newspapers always made him sneeze after a while. Or maybe it was the paper, he had no idea. Either way, the sneezing gave him a headache, and he left Ron and Hermione to work and slipped downstairs for a bit. With the wedding preparations and the Order about, people popped in and out of the Burrow fairly often. But for the moment at least, the kitchen was empty as he started to heat water for tea, digging about in the cupboard and coming up with a package of somewhat stale looking biscuits that he suspected must be everyone's least favorite for them to have lasted long enough to get stale, with Ron about.

But they were good enough, and he set the package on the counter, pulling one out and gnawing slowly at it while he waited on the tea. He took the Snitch he'd taken to keeping in his pocket out again, staring at it like he might suss it out, this time, and then tucking it away again, brushing a few stray crumbs from his collar as he finished the biscuit and reached for another one.

Ginny had stayed up the night before talking to Hermione for what seemed like the longest conversation they’d had in a while and even though Hermione had given her a gift after midnight for her birthday, the nicest part had been the talking. Hermione had been able to clue Ginny in a little more on things that were going on and they’d also been able to talk just the way that they were used to. It left her feeling a little bit lighter that day which made everything for bearable and made for the nicest birthday gift she could have asked for.

She’d been able to sleep in a bit later than usual and enjoy a nice large breakfast courtesy of Molly and spent the rest of the day relaxing in her room as much as possible as birthdays mandated a get-out-of-chores-free day. She’d decided to continue working on some Quidditch plays that she’d been brainstorming and reviewing since receiving the letter notifying her of her Quidditch captaincy.

When her own bedroom became a bit too warm and everyone appeared to be slightly busied with their own daily routines that she walked barefoot into the kitchen to fetch herself a glass of water and a piece of fruit. She smiled at Harry the moment she saw him there, feeling so optimistic about this day as of last night that she didn’t care if Fleur made her dress up like a giant teddy bear for Bill’s wedding—okay maybe that was stretching it, but even if it were a frilly thing, Ginny might just grin and bear it.

Ginny tilted her head at Harry and took out some sugar and milk for him to fix his tea with, “I’ll tell you—I take a few days off from baking and suddenly people are eating the stale biscuits.” She teased a bit and leaned against the counter. “I’m surprised someone didn’t finish those ages ago—can’t remember the last time anyone in this house let something sit long enough to go stale.” She took a sip of her water.

Harry hadn't expected to stay alone long - it was a rarity in the Burrow - but Ginny's appearance still startled him, and he blinked at her before he smiled. "I think your mum's been keeping things on hand with so many people in and out, so no one's had to go through the cupboards mostly?" he suggested. "Do you want a cup?" he asked, nodding toward the heating water that was starting to steam toward ready.

Harry hadn't been able to leave the house - much to his frustration - yet. Or at least not for anything frivolous. When they made headway with the horcruxes, then they'd risk it, and he had some plans in place. But for now, he was housebound. Which meant he hadn't been able to get out to get Ginny anything for her birthday. Hermione had anticipated the problem and gotten her a gift from him, though. It wasn't hand-picked. . . but then Harry'd had no idea what to get her anyway. He just hoped she liked it. He'd left it upstairs, and figured he'd give it to her later, but he could go get it, he supposed. Or maybe he should wait until after dinner?

It would be really blood nice to not feel like he was in a constant state of befuddlement dealing with the youngest Weasley. But he supposed it was only natural. He wasn't exactly smooth in general. "Happy Birthday, Ginny." He saw her fetching out the sugar and milk and smiled. "Thanks. . . did you sleep well?"
