After near non-stop Order work since the students had left Hogwarts for the hols, it was almost a treat to do something as tension-free and non-death defying as help decorate the Great Hall.
Once the party began, Tonks stood off to the side and watched the students enjoy themselves. No matter how many years passed (not that there had been that many), she still missed being a student sometimes. When she'd been a teenager, she'd been in such a hurry to grow up that she occasionally forgot to enjoy herself as much as she could have, and now, watching all of the students, she wished they had a chance to enjoy themselves like they deserved as well. But wartime wasn't conducive to that, and it meant that no matter how the war turned out, it would shape the future and mindsets of an entire generation.
With a small smile, she stepped forward and decided to risk the refreshments, hoping someone hadn't spiked the punch by now.
