Verity allowed him to pull her towards him but jammed her hands up, placing her palms against his chest and stopping him from moving her any closer. Fred had never apologised, not really, not like this, and Verity was struck by it. "Yeah," she said, trying not to forgive him yet. She'd been truly offended by his words and wanted to teach him a lesson, but she was unable to keep a small smile from passing across her lips. "You do. You're kind of a jerk, you know." The smile this time was wider, but just as brief, and she moved a tiny bit closer.
