As I thought you might end up assigned duty at Hogwarts anyway - I thought this might be a solution that doesn't interfere entirely with your Auror duties. It needn't be a permanent position. If you'd only like to stay for this year, then that would be acceptable. I'd imagine the situation may look a good deal different by the start of next year." Somehow, McGonagall expected this year would be a turning point and see the culmination of a lot of things. If nothing else, she expected Albus would try to ensure that was the case, given his own situation.
She smiled at the tacked on qualification. "I assure you, Miss Tonks. I'm quite sure. But you've put in a great deal of effort to achieving your position with the Aurors, so I would understand if you chose not to take the position. There is a time factor though, so I'll need an answer as quickly as possible."
