The run had done him good. After watching the battle between the Puffs and the Claws, Greg had decided he needed to exercise and reflect. He'd watched the players intently throughout the game, looking for new strategies or new signals they might by trying to use, would use in the future. He'd gone, and ran down by the lake, with the firm ground crunching under his sneakers. It had been bitterly cold, and he was glad he'd bought that anti-slip gel he'd picked up in Diagon Alley and now applied to his shoes; back in the summer, the idea that he might be able to cast the hex was allusive so he'd broken down and spend the coin for it. Now, he was glad he had it. His charms work was progressing but he wasn't quite there yet, good enought to do just any charm, and as he ran, Greg thought on those Charms lessons as well. He was still working with Theo, weekly, and Greg pondered about Theo. He was an excellent teacher and under his tutalage, Greg could see real improvement and growing confidence in his wand work. And now that he had it down, hexes and charms were starting to come easier and easier. He was grateful to Theo for that, and as Greg's feet made an audible beat, he wondered how the winter break was going to affect their work together.
Theo had odd quirks, but really that wasn't news to Greg. The time they'd spent together showed Greg a side of Theo he'd rarely witnessed before, and Greg found himself looking forward to the times they could spend alone together. He didn't want the winter break to interfer with that, so Greg was going to ask his parents if he could visit the Nott house. He sort of thought it wouldn't be a huge problem. The next step was to present it to Theo. And Greg wasn't all together too sure how Theo would respond; the guy seemed to clamp up tighter than a clam when the topic of his family came up.
Greg had ran and ran, ideas and thoughts turning over in his mind as he thought of Quidditch, charms, Theo, the break and his present school work to finish. Every once in a while a random thought about a girl would pop in there, but the thought of Theo always seemed to scoot it out. Greg wasnt' sure what it meant; he thought he must really be focused on his studies for the frist time in his life, and Theo was a huge part of his growing success.
He'd made his way back into the school, ready to shower and change and seek out Theo. He was breathing hard as he moved towards the dungeons, his face red and flushed, pulling off his cloak. He passed a full common room as he headed to the room he shared and flung open the door, noting immediately that the room was not as empty as he expected. Theo was on his bed, curled around a book on his side. Greg dumped it unceremoniously on the floor as he started on his jumper, stripping down to a sweaty t-shirt.
"Yo, Theo!" Greg said, as he moved to jump onto Theo's bed, bouncing the whole thing and grinning at his attempt to startle his friend.
