Who: Nikolas Vaisey and Lucy Elkins
When: Saturday, two o'clock
Where: Hogsmeade, Dervish and Banges
What: Just a friendly meeting
Rating: TBD
Open/Closed: Openish - I'm sure they could run into someone if anybody else wants in!

After having spent an hour or so talking with Lucy Elkins in the tower the week before, Nikolas had decided that he found her to be a fairly interesting and, well, remarkable, person.  Sure, this evaluation was based upon that one actual conversation and a few brief exchanges after classes over the years, but he thought it couldn't hurt to see if she wanted to meet up at Hogsmeade.  After all, isn't that how one built a friendship?  If you find someone enjoyable to be around, why shouldn't you spend more time with them?  That's how you get to know someone.  Nikolas had rationalized this, and he wasn't quite sure why he felt he had to.

Though originally thinking he might see if Daphne wanted to meet again, Nikolas remembered that they'd be spending nearly a week together in another country short time. Did he really want to add on more? So, he'd had lunch with Harper instead, who appeared to be coming down with a cold and kept blowing his nose and coughing rather terribly.  Though Nikolas hadn't said anything, he'd found the whole thing to be rather more disgusting and less enjoyable that he'd hoped it would be.  the boys had parted ways shortly after, Harper intending to make haste back to the castle and return to his bed.  For his part, Nikolas had spent the remaining hour or so milling through the streets sipping at large cup of steaming coffee.

As he now drew up to Dervish and Banges, he kept an eye out for Lucy and leaned against one of the large windows that fronted the business.

Nikolas took the bag and began to walk down the lane. The bag was somewhat heavier than he'd expected, and for a moment he almost regretted offering to take it. Still, he supposed it was better than her having to hold several heavy parcels - at least he could be helpful.

"Not very much. Had lunch with a friend, but it was not as fun as I'd hoped since he has some sort of cold and kept sneezing." He reconsidered. "Actually, the sneezing was probably the least of it. But aside from that I've just been walking around and stopping indoors every so often."

The bag that Nikolas was holding was from Zonko's. Although Grayson was nearly twenty years old, the joke toys never ceased to amuse her older brother. The rest of her bags included books for her father and some things from Gladrag's for her grandmother.

"Kind of gross," Lucy concluded, laughing slightly. She looked to him out of her corner of her eyes. "I heard it's supposed to snow today. Do you think?"

At the question of snow, Nikolas' gaze shifted to the sky almost automatically. It was true - the heavy, gray-white clouds and the crispness of the air did seem to hint at possible snowfall. The smell of wood burning slunk its way through the air, and combined with the idea of snowing made Nikolas realize just how close the holidays were now. His face brightened.

"Don't know, I hadn't heard anything," he said, glancing over at Lucy. She seemed pleased by the thought that it may snow a bit. "But now you mention it, it certainly does seem likely."

The Zonko's bag bumped against his leg as he walked, and Nikolas lifted it a bit higher. "What's in this one, anyway?"

Lucy let her eyes wander to the sky. It hadn't snowed properly yet during the winter. If there was one thing Lucy liked more than Christmas during the winter, it was snow. She was rather superb at building a snowman. She would tell you so if you asked her, of course.

"Hope it does," she said, still looking up at the sky. She let her eyes avert back to Nikolas before smiling brightly. She couldn't place why but she was in a very good mood that day.

She looked back at the Zonko's bag and couldn't help but giggle. "Just some things for my brother. Zonko's comes in handy when it comes to Grayson. He gets such a kick out of everything."

"Is he younger?" Nikolas asked. He couldn't recall if Lucy had mentioned her brother the last time they had spoken. He didn't think so - or maybe she had, and he'd just forgotten. Either way, the way Lucy had described Grayson's amusement by Zonko's items made Nikolas assume a younger boy for some reason, and obviously one that had not yet begun his schooling at Hogwarts.

Clearly, the idea that Lucy's family wasn't of wizarding descent didn't even occur to him.

"My sister went through a phase about a year ago where all she wanted was things from Zonko's. And a pony."
