"Not too long," he replied. "Just got here, practically."
Nikolas' eyes again lingered on the bags in Lucy's hands. "You clearly had a successful day of shopping." He extended his free hand toward one of the parcels without much thought to the action. "Here, do you want me to take one for you? You're arms are probably getting tired, or will, anyway."
It seemed the polite thing to do. She must have been carrying those for a few hours at least, and Nikolas didn't have anything in his hands except his coffee, which was almost empty by now. Nikolas wasn't exactly sure what he and Lucy would be doing - more shopping, or just strolling - but in any case it couldn't hurt to be of aid.
