Who: Su Li & Lucy Elkins
When: Saturday, late-morning/early afternoon
Where: Hogsmeade
What: Ravenclaw solidarity in Christmas shopping
Rating: TBD
Open/Closed: Openish - I'm sure they could run into someone if anybody else wants in!

Although she had originally intended to get the bulk of her Christmas shopping done the previous weekend, Su had wound up spending much longer at Lisa's birthday gathering than she had intended.  In other words, she'd had bit more to drink than she knew she should, in the name of "celebrating", and would probably have failed miserably at any proceeding shopping endeavors.

This week, though, would be different.  No one was having any special occasions with free and basically unlimited drinks, and Su would stay on task.  Besides, she even had company this time, as Lucy Elkins had agreed to join her.  Though she hadn't ever been especially close to the younger girl, Lucy did seem to be smart and pleasant, if a bit quiet for Su's tastes.  With little concern for what Lucy may be planning for their trip, Su had decided they'd make the rounds of any of the shops in Hogsmeade that sold promising gift items.  She found that she always had to be careful of what to buy her parents and sister - as Muggles, many of the more magical gifts she might like to get them may just prove confusing, useless, or even dangerous.  Still, shopping in the Muggle world never seemed quite the same anymore.

Bundled up against the cold and pulling on a pair of wool gloves, Su waited for her shopping partner with surprising patience.  Although, the tapping of her foot might suggest otherwise.

After stopping at the Leaky Cauldron to get a small glass of butter beer, Lucy made her way over to the spot that she and Su had agreed on. After spending most of her time in the bookstore on their last trip to Hogsmeade, it had completely flown Lucy's mind that the Christmas holidays were so close. And she hadn't gotten a single thing on her list.

But she was determined to get it done today, and hopefully in time to meet Nikolas at Dervish and Banges. But that was a whole other note of determination.

She spotted the other girl immediately and hurried over to her.

"I'm not late, am I?"

"'Course not!"

Su grinned at Lucy and rocked back on her heels, hands behind her back. As a matter of fact, Lucy was right on time. It was just that Su always had a tendency to get everywhere early, and tended to overlook the fact that others generally didn't. She stepped closer to Lucy casually.

"I'm glad you decided to come. Do you have anywhere you especially need to go? I thought that since we don't really have any time constraints we should just sort of make a circuit around the town."

Lucy tugged at the fingers of her gloves before smiling anxiously at her friend. Once her Christmas shopping was all finished, she would be able to concentrate a bit more on the finish of the term. She couldn't believe how close it was to their last day. She almost wished she was staying. But she knew that her family wouldn't be very happy about that.

"Oh, I do have to meet Nikolas a bit later," she said, though she couldn't exactly remember the time. Sometime in the afternoon she thought. "But that's not for a while. So a I think a walk around would be perfect. Who are you buying for this holiday?"

Su began walking alongside Lucy, in the general direction of Zonko's. Fen had always enjoyed the bizarre joke-gifts Su had brought home from the shop, and she intended to keep up the tradition by topping last year's offering with something even more outrageous.

"My family, mostly. I sort of have to be careful though, to not get my parents anything too magical. Although my sister always insists I get her something obviously non-Muggle. And I suppose if I see anything that makes me think of some of my friends particularly I'll take that as well." As she said this she pulled her wallet out of her bag and examined the contents. She thought she'd probably have enough. "What about you?"

Pulling at the edge of her scarf, she nodded her head in understanding. Buying for Muggles in a wizarding communities was always tricky. You didn't want to buy anything that couldn't be explained.

"My father, my grandmother and my brother," Lucy told Su, smiling. "I'm not really sure what to get my Dad but my grandmother is easy. Even though she's a Muggle, she loves anything from Gladrag's."

"Well, Gladrag's has some really excellent stuff. Your grandmother must have good taste," Su determined, nodding as though in agreement with herself. "My father is always hard to shop for, too. He always says he doesn't want anything, which also doesn't help. Gladrags is a good idea though...I could at least get my mum something, she loves clothing."

Not knowing Lucy very well, Su suddenly shifted the topic. "You have a brother, though? Older or younger?"

"I do," Lucy replied through chattering lips.

It was a tad bit chillier than she had thought it would be. Although she wasn't too cold, her body did always react rather quickly. She knew a warming charm would eventually have to happen. She looked to Su and managed a smile.

She watched her breath hang in the air for a moment.

"Grayson is turning twenty, actually," she told Su. "Muggle, though. He's at uni studying finance."

"Ohh, well good for him," Su said, her eyebrows raised in interest. "I'm good with numbers but I don't think I could ever have put my mind to something like finance. Or at least not enjoyed it."

She paused for a moment, as though thinking something over. At that moment they began to pass by Zonko's, where Su had been meaning to look around. She didn't usually buy things there, as jokes weren't really her forte or a particular interest, but every now and then it at least provided some interesting novelties. "Hey, do you want to stop in here first? Might be good for a laugh."
