WHO: Heath & Gideon
WHAT: Post shopping trip
WHERE: London
WHEN: December 3rd
STATUS/RATING: Incomplete TBA (It's the WS. It is an automatic R, probably.)

When at all possible, most of the Weird Sisters would shop in muggle London, because it meant that nine times out of ten, they could go about completely unrecognized. Most of them had had at least one Muggle parent, so it wasn't difficult to get around. Gideon and Heath had been dorm mates back in school and knew their way around most of the good music stores in London, so the trip to get strings had been an easy one. So easy in fact, that they'd easily been distracted by new guitars and other instruments and while lute strings weren't exactly common place nowadays, he'd managed to find them, and buy himself a new guitar for the hell of it while he was at it, determined to learn the instrument. There wasn't always going to be a call for bagpipe players in rock and roll.

He was lounging on Heath's couch, the both of them having just apparated back, and strumming his fingers over the strings, making a complete mess of his fingerings.

"Ugh," Heath said as he came back from the kitchen with two drinks, one bottle of water to sit in front of Gideon and one cold beer in his hand when he collapsed down across the plush chair across from the couch, his legs over the arm. "You're going to let me give you lessons, right? Because otherwise I don't think I can allow you to leave the flat with a guitar that nice if you're just going to torture her."

Gideon rolled his eyes. "You don't get to decide if she goes home with me or not. I saw her first. You have plenty of your own. And yes, I'll let you teach me. Give me a break, I've had it like a half hour. Even a prodigy like myself needs a learning curve." He stuck his tongue out at Heath, giving him a nod of thanks for the water, and unscrewed the cap to take a drink.

Heath arched an eyebrow at him and then took a drink before he answered. "I think we should ask her, actually. Just like any other beautiful woman, you know she'd rather go home with me if she had the choice."

But he nodded, too. He figured anyone who had the patience to learn how to play the bagpipes and who wasn't standing around some Scottish streetcorner and playing them for tourists had to be a quick study. "We'll start off with 'Mary Had a Little Lamb' and have you at 'Silent Night' by Christmas."

Gideon rolled his eyes. "You take the beautiful woman, I'll take the beautiful guitar and the pretty guy in the music shop who sold it to me. He was totally staring at my ass." He grinned.

Fingers slid over the stings again, this time getting the chord right. "Oh blow me. I'll be past that in no time." He hoped. He would be disappointed it if turned out bagpipes was all he was good at. He doubted it though. "Now shut up and put up."

"Put up what?" Heath looked genuinely confused. He wanted a lesson now? But... he had beer! And was comfortable. "Or do you mean put out? Because I'm not the bloke at the shop, if you've noticed."

Gideon rolled his eyes. "Just tell me a few chords, git. I'm not looking for a full on lesson at the moment. I understand the basics. Which fingers behind which fret on which string, that's all. Give me A and G. I'll go from there."

He grinned suddenly and looked over at Heath, arching his brow. "The bloke at the shop would be less work to get into bed, that's for sure."

Heath rolled his eyes. "The 6th string, the one closest to your chest, if you play it open that's E. Move down the strings and play them open for G, D, A. Frets move it up or down half a step. And he would be, since you're right about him staring at your ass. Like he was starved for it. Probably a lousy lay, though."

Gideon followed the instructions with surprising comprehension. Or maybe not that surprising. He was in a band where most of them knew how to play a stringed instrument of some sort, and he'd been a Ravenclaw after all. Once he knew the chords, practicing them slowly and then with more confidence, he could pick out "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" all on his own.

"Please," he said, with a pick between his teeth, fussing with the tuning for a moment. "Like you haven't ever appreciated the very fine sight of my ass on more then one drunken occasion. Just too much of a diva. Too much work for me, plus you're all bendy and you'd wound my masculine ego." Which wasn't to say Gideon wouldn't give it a shot anyways. It was just... Gideon was more careful about sleeping with his bandmates, other then the casual messing about. The band was too important to him to fuck it up with his casual bedroom habits.

"Only because when I'm a little drunk your ass seems to be in my face to admire," Heath contended, taking another drink. "Why is that? I mean, you're sober when we're shitfaced. You think we'd be the ones dancing around without pants on, but I definitely remember something in Paris...."

He sat up from the recline he'd been in a little more serious as he watched Gideon pick out the song. "Just use the tip of your finger on the fret, mate." He could mock him, but he'd known Gid since he was eleven, he had a vested interest now in making sure he could do what he wanted to do.

"Because I'm remarkably good at playing drunk? I get high on life, mate, and hanging out with you lot. I don't need the booze to act like an ass, never have," he laughed, not at all put out by the question. With the other band mates anyways, he didn't get defensive about it. Others, not so much. "And I notice that you aren't denying the awesomeness of my ass, either," he said with a sly grin.

He followed the directions, making the corrections, tip of his tongue sticking out as he concentrated, the same way it used to over Herbology homework.

"I could deny it, but then you might feel the need to show it to me again to prove just exactly what level of amazing it is," Heath smiled a little, leaning back in his seat once Gideon had corrected his fingering. "And I've seen it quite often enough to know one way or the other."

Gideon just grinned at that, flipping two fingers to Heath in a well-known gesture, and then going back to trying out the chords, managing to pick out a simple hymn on the strings. "You would be damned grateful if I did, and you know it."

"Yeah?" Heath didn't sound pissed, just interested, really, as if he'd never thought of that. Apparently, as they'd figured out today, there were a whole bloody lot of things he'd never thought about in school.

"But you were my best mate, Gid. I mean to say, I knew you pretty damn well. If you were hard and jerking to it, surprised you didn't just invite yourself in."

Gideon shrugged and grunted. "Yeah. Well, I didn't think you'd appreciate the interruption. Flirting with some guy is one thing. Fucking up a friendship that was more important then getting laid is another," he said, shrugging again, as best he could, being still more or less pinned by Heath.

He poked his stomach again, just for the hell of it. "Weren't you ticklish or something? Or did the yoga get rid of that?"

"You're not hitting the right spot," Heath answered, because there were still a few certain places that would make him squirm and kick to get Gideon away from them. He did finally move, though, half laying on his friend for a moment and then pushing hismelf up, letting Gideon move as he moved to the end of the sofa instead.

He was looking at Gideon though, studying him with a strange sort of consideration in his eyes that hadn't really ever been there before.

Gideon arched a brow and he laughed, fingers ghosting along Heath's stomach for a moment, as if looking for the right spot, before Heath pulled away.

He sat up, but not by much, propping himself up on his elbows and planting his feet in Heath's lap, and then noticed the way Heath was looking at him. "What? What's that look for?"

"Just considering," Heath answered, and he didn't mind his mate's feet on his lap, really. "Considering what I'd have done then, if you'd crawled into bed while I was screwing Connolly or something."

Gideon blinked a little at that, and he snapped his jaw shut for a minute, because he realized he was gaping a little. It wasn't often that Gideon was rendered speechless. "So.... what would you have done then?" He shouldn't ask. He really shouldn't. But he did anyways.

Heath wasn't blind. He knew just as well as Gideon that this might be dangerous territory. But he'd also always teased Gideon. What kept it from going a little too far ... well, he wasn't entirely sure about that, really. And if this went too far...

He shrugged, licked his lips, and looked sidelong at his friend with a little smirk as he thought about it. "I don't know. Offered you his mouth? I mean, even as burly as he could be sometimes, he had a bloody brilliant mouth when he had a mind for it..."

Gideon, for some strange reason he couldn't (or wouldn't) identify, was sharply disappointed for a moment. He hid it though, laughing it off and shrugging. "I'll have to take your word for it, I never did dip my toes in that particular body of water."

Whatever else he was going to say was interrupted by the chime of Heath's doorbell.

Gideon flopped back onto the couch, putting his hands behind his head. "Food's here."

"You ought to have, he really was - " Heath was cut off by the doorbell too, and for a second he glared at it. Whatever they'd been doing, teasing, it had been fun, and he didn't like having his fun cut off.

He stood though, going to the door to get the food, and then cursing, turning to yell at Gideon over his shoulder. "Oi, get my wallet, would you?"

Gideon groaned. The whole point was so he didn't have to get up, and here Heath was, making him get up. He grunted and rolled to his feet, looking around before he found the wallet, walking over and poking Heath in the back with it. "Here. Lazy sod," he accused cheerfully.

"Freeloading ponce," Heath answered, grabbing it and digging out enough quid to cover the food and a good tip before he let the pretty Indian girl go and he turned around and shoved Gideon back a bit. "For that, I'm eating part of your food." Which, really, he'd have done anyway.

Heath pretended to think about that for a moment, and he shook his head. "If you're going on a suicide mission, you might as well go all out and try for Leigh and Meghan at the same time. That's how you want to die."
