Who: Lucy & Branwen
What: Taking a walk
Where: Halls of Hogwarts
When: Sunday evening
Rating/Warning: TBA

Leaning against the old desk in the back corner of the library, Lucy did her best to squeeze all of her things inside her knapsack. She had spent the majority of the evening working on a Transfiguration essay. Twitchy, complicated thing, it was. She had gotten it done, but not without trouble. Lately, it had become hard for her to focus. She was hoping that a walk would clear her head, help her get her act together.

She was only thankful Branwen had decided to keep her company.

Branwen combed the aisles of the library, looking for Lucy, enjoying the quiet space of the library. At the very last row, she found her, and slid into the nearest chair. "You could always shrink them," she suggested, almost absent-mindedly.

She then turned toward Lucy and gave her obvious attention, tough she stayed quiet. "So, walk! Do you want to go up one of the towers, or just around down here?" She smiled, then added, "though the conversation should probably wait until we're out of the library."

ooc: Sorry it's taken me so long! This week has been crazy.

At Branwen's entrance and suggestion, Lucy couldn't help but laugh softly. She shook her head, "After all these years, you'd think magic would be my first instinct? It's like I forget I'm a witch!"

She slipped her wand out from underneath her sleeve and with a slight wave and a mumble of a charm, her books shrunk down to a small size and she tossed them in her knapsack. She looked back to her friend.

"Let's explore," she suggested, smiling. "We'll see where we end up. But let's hurry out of here so you can catch me up! I'm so curious."

Branwen smiled, then clarified, "well, it's not generally my first thought either. It's not always a bad thing though," she added, contemplatively. "Can you imagine how much trouble we would get into at home if it were?"

Then Branwen turned down the aisle, moving quickly and quietly through the stacks to Madam Pince's desk, and then out the door, before turning back to Lucy. "Well..." she began, dragging the word out, trying to figure out how best to start. It seemed a bit odd that she had never mentioned her three silly crushes before, as they had been around for forever, but then, she usually talked to Sasha about those sorts of things.

"I wouldn't want to imagine what my dad would say," Lucy muttered, shaking her head.

Her father was by no means a very strict man, but when he had a reason to be angry, well, he got angry. Lucy could have shuddered at the thought. Though, thankfully, her brother has always been the one to really suffer his wrath. But her brother was always doing rather stupid things.

Following Branwen out of the library, she pulled a small hair tie off her wrist and pulled her hair into a ponytail at the nape of her neck.

"Well...." Lucy repeated, a teasing smile on her face. "Well what!"

Branwen giggled girlishly. It wasn't something she did a lot, and even then, it was mostly around Sasha. It was indicative of girly discussions of crushes and gossip, and well, that was what was on her mind.

She giggled again, and all but dragged Lucy into a less-frequented hallway, so she wouldn't be overheard. "Well..." she repeated, "you know how I have that stupid crush of those three boys at the same time, and have since second year?" She wasn't sure if Lucy did or not, but she thought it was best to assume not until proven wrong.

It had been a long time since Lucy had any sort of Giraldo discussion. She could tell, however, that Branwen definitely had something on her mind. She couldn't help but laugh softly in response to Branwen. Her giggles were just so contagious.

"Yes, yes," she said, nodding her head. "Wait, has something happened with one of them? Or all of them? Or, perhaps, two?"

Branwen nodded. "Just one. The other two have been out of sight out of mind mostly, but..." she laughed lightly and only slightly bitterly, "that hasn't helped much."

"But... well..." she paused. This was impartial gossip, she was being stupid to make such a fuss of it. A deep breathe later, and she continued, "have you noticed how Mandy Brocklehurst and Michael Corner are practically throwing themselves at each other in the journals? nd only less so in person?"

Actually, it had been impossible to ignore the talk of Mandy and Michael over the past couple of weeks. Their flirting in and out of their journals had been the talk of the Ravenclaw house, that was for sure. She looked at Branwen and nodded her head, a slight roll to her eyes that she couldn't hold back.

"A bit silly, isn't it?" she said, shaking her head. "They ought to just put it all out on the table at this point. We all know everything, anyway."

"It is," Branwen agreed. "And we rather do. It's hard for the best of us to keep a secret around this place. We do a pretty good job, but if you aren't trying, everyone will know."

She smiled brightly. "So, yes, never. Excellent word isn't it!" She had jumped back to the mysterious entry that had prompted this discussion in the first place.

"How have you been?" Branwen was definitely trying to distract someone from the original point, though whether it was Lucy or herself was anybody's guess.

"Merlin, if one person knows, we all know!"

Lucy stopped after a moment. Branwen seemed excited. A little relieved, almost. But was she really? Lucy had crushes a lot. She actually had one at the moment. But when they didn't return the sentiment. Well, that blew. Blimey, Lucy wasn't sure how Branwen was handling it.

"I suppose so," she said slowly. She ignored Branwen's question for the moment. "Are you sure you're alright with it all?"

Branwen paused for a moment to really think about Lucy's question. The surface answer was easy, but she wasn't a Ravenclaw for nothing. Slowly, she shook her head. "I know there will be someone eventually. But what's wrong with now?" She scowled. "Or four years ago?"

Then she merely shrugged. "Still, two of them are still free as far as I'm aware, so at least there's that?" she asked rhetorically and hopefully. She shook her head, to clear it. "I wish they would just stop!" Emotions were so messy and uncontrolable.

"Yes."

Lucy bit on her bottom lip, her eyes darting to the ground for a moment. Lucy had never had a boyfriend before. Hadn't even kissed a boy. When it came to boy advice, Lucy had nothing to really say. She shrugged her shoulders.

"Boys an be so tricky," she said. "Well, I suppose they are. I've got very little real experience with them. But, Bran, you're kind of brilliant. The right guy is going to come along. I know it."

Branwen paused to consider what Lucy said, and then nodded decisively. she didn't have much actual experience with boys either, but what Lucy said made sense. "You're right."

Then she smiled brightly and started walking again, much more happily. "So, really, how are you?"
