Who: Viktor Krum and OPEN What: Browsing in a book store, to get one of those journals Where: Flourish and Blotts, Diagon Alley When: Friday, early afternoon Warnings: none
Viktor had come upon his fellow employees, speaking over a book that they were passing from hand to hand. They were talking quietly, trying to stretch out the break time they had without drawing the attention of any superviors or DEs. When Viktor's face showed his puzzlement, one of his co-workers handed it to him as the men had spoken in low whispered tones about all of the dish that could be found in them.
"Yeah, women seem to have no problem just spilling their guts out in these things," one of the blokes had said, as Viktor open it to look at the pages. There were, indeed, some vaguely interesting entrees he noted as he scanned the text; he saw a few entries further back, written in a familiar hand that caught his eye. It was Hermione's hand writing.
"And where do you buy these things?" he had asked, excitement starting to grow in his chest, waving the journal slightly at one of the men.
They had told him, and here he was in Flouish and Blotts, browsing through the shelves until he spied a nice display of journals. He selected one and opened it, noting that nothing was written upon it. He frowned but decided to hold his questions about it until he went to pay.
Maybe one has to activate the charm or something, he thought to himself as he moved to another stack, browsing for something interesting to read. He had brought some books with him, but had never really started a collection. With his body still not quite ready for flight, Viktor knew he needed some distractions to keep him on the ground. The few books he had, eating out, and roaming the various gardens of England were not satisfying his inner need for distraction; he was feeling restless. Mandy had been promising; he'd enjoyed speaking with her greatly, and had thought he would write her, once he got one of these journals. And the meeting with McGonagall had lifted his spirits up. But he thought the first thing he'd do with his journal is write Hermione, or at least try. He was thinking of her, and Mandy, and past holidays as he looked over the titles in the travel section.
