Ellie didn’t really know what to expect when she met Julien Dorny. She could vaguely think of what he looked like with the few classes they had together, but she’d never really interacted with him. And her owls to him and her comments with her brother had made her leave for her meeting confused. She didn’t understand how they could both seem to think they were at fault. She was determined to find out though no matter what. She just hoped she didn’t botch it up too much.

With that in mind Ellie grabbed a heavy cloak and pulled it on, wondering why she’d thought it was such a grand idea to meet outside, later in the day, in November. It was bound to be quite cool and she rather liked being warm and toasty. But for Alfie she was willing to withstand just about anything. She was going to make sense of this since it seemed nothing like what happened between Audrey and Capper.

So it was with a determined mind that Ellie left the confines of Hufflepuff and made her journey out of the castle. She stopped just outside the doors, already feeling the cold of the evening air starting. It wasn’t so bad yet though and so she thought that if he showed up soon and they started moving before either had a chance to really get cold things wouldn’t be all that bad. Now all she had to do was wait.

It was absolutely brass monkeys outside and Julien cast a warming charm even on top of his coat, scarf and gloves just to go out in it... or maybe he just felt the cold more than other people. Whatever it was, he's brave sleet and thunderstorm to come out and speak to Alfie's twin.

From speaking to Alfie over the journals, Julien knew that what he'd have to tell Ellie, i.e. the truth about what had happened, would probably mean that he'd wind up with a black eye or at least a broken nose. Alfie was convinced that HE had been in the wrong, Julien knew different but he knew that Ellie only knew what Alfie had been saying. He hadn't done anything wrong, he hadn't. Julien was the monster in this scenario and he felt his stomach turn just thinking about it, wanting to run back and hide in his bed and lose himself in Daydream Charms which he'd bought from the money he'd made forging other kid's homework for them.

He almost bumped into the girl when he went outside, but stopped, looking unsure. "Uhm... hi... Ellie?"

So it was colder then she thought and even pacing while waiting for Julien to show up didn't seem to help. This was a bad idea. Well, not talking. Just talking outside. She fumbled in her robe pockets before pulling out her wand and casting her own warming charm and had just managed to put her wand away when she heard her name behind her.

"Hi!" It was enthusiastic and loud as she turned quickly to the other boy with a smile. She just barely managed to keep herself from saying something about how he had to be Julien then and instead settled for waving. "I'm glad you could come out and meet me. Walk with me."

She didn't wait for him to give consent before she started moving. She just wanted to warm up and she wanted to make sure that once she was she stayed that way. She was sure that he'd follow though. "So I think that there has been some kinda break down in communication between you two, you know." Her mind thought back on what Alfie had said, Julien's reply to her owl and then what Alfie had posted to her in her journal comments.

	Julien fell into step beside the girl, head down and his hands in his pockets, his body language shielding him from whatever may come his way, although he wasn't expecting her to say what she then said. He nodded tightly though in agreement. "He seems to think it's his fault. I've told him it isn't, but-" he cut himself off and shrugged, looking miserable. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

She was beginning to think that both Alfie and Julien were just trying to confuse her. She really wasn't sure what was going on or how both of them could think they were at fault. If they both thought that then Ellie had to think that neither of them were at fault and they were just as confused as she was. That was something that she was definitely going to have to rectify. "I think you're just kinda confusing me more. Maybe if you explained it from your point it'd help?"

Julien sighed and stopped walking but couldn't look Ellie in the face, nevermind in the eye. He looked down at his feet like they were the most interesting thing in the world. "He was upset about... about your parents and I was hugging him, just to comfort him and then he, he kissed me and, we kissed but... I know he isn't... I know he doesn't really like..." me. "Boys like that but I just kept kissing him... I took advantage of him because he was upset and now, now I don't even think he DID start it, I think it was me... so I, I took advantage of him and then he got upset and left. He didn't want me near him... I just..." Alfie shrugged miserably.

So they both thought it was their fault because they both thought they started the kiss and took advantage of the other? Ellie wasn't sure how that worked. It sounded to her that while one of them initiated the kiss they'd both participated in it and enjoyed it. She just didn't understand how either of them thought they took advantage of the other. They really should have talked. "Not just to, like, put this out there like this, but it seems to me that you both are thinking about the same thing." She probably could have said it better or been a little more subtle, but she wasn't so good at that.

	Julien looked, if anything, even more disheartened at hearing that. "I... I didn't know it had affected him that badly..." he murmured, rubbing his elbow with the opposite hand in a lost gesture of comfort. "I didn't mean to... I didn't mean for this to happen." he was wholly expecting Ellie to at least yell at him now. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Julien so wasn't being helpful and Ellie wondered if maybe she should just lock the two of them in a room together. Maybe if she did that then they'd both talk this out instead of agonizing over it. Honestly she thought both were being rather stubborn over it. "Well what did you mean? I mean... He kissed you or you kissed him. Was there reciprocation?" She was pretty sure that Alfie mentioned something like that.

Julien shook his head and sighed. "I kissed him and he, he did... he kissed back but it was just, I was just comforting him and he was hurting and upset, he was so upset and I took, I took advantage of that..." Merlin just saying it made him feel sick. "I shouldn't have... so I stopped it and he ran... ran from me. And now he thinks it's his fault... he didn't do anything wrong."

Ok, seriously. Ellie knew that Julien was a Ravenclaw, but she was seriously starting to doubt his reasoning skills. If Alfie had kissed back then she wondered just how he thought he was taking advantage. She was pretty sure that had that been the case then Alfie would have shoved away from him. She was seriously tempted to reach up and smack him around the head. "Ugh. You both think alike. Did you think that maybe he ran away because he was confused?"

Julien nodded. "Of course he was confused, he was upset and hurting and I'd just kissed him... so... I followed him. To make sure he'd be okay. And I caught up with him but he told me... he told me to leave him alone." Which hadn't been the words exactly. 'Go away' had been the words exactly. "And now he thinks he did something wrong. Which is what he told you. It wasn't that way, it was my fault... I shouldn't have kissed him while he was so upset and..." he shook his head again, running his hands through his curls.

She wanted to shake him. Honestly she wanted to shake them both and knock their heads together. It was like hearing the same thing over and over again from the both of them. They were both at fault. They'd both initiated it. Each of them thought the other was disgusted or some such thing. Everything would just be all fine and dandy if they'd just talk. "He probably just wanted time to process and figured you'd say something the next day or, or something! After all I'm pretty sure you are the first bloke my twin has kissed."

"And the last one... he's dating someone else. I was just, it was just a big mistake and I wish hadn't taken advantage of him like that but I did and I'm just gonna have to deal with that by myself so if you're gonna yell at me or hit me or whatever I'd appreciate it if you'd just hurry up and do it so I can get back inside." he said, not quite losing his temper but just desperately wanting this to be over so he could go back in and disappear into Daydreams. And he hadn't said he wished he hadn't kissed Alfie either.

"He's dating someone now, but he wasn't then," Ellie pointed out, crossing her arms over her chest. She had to wonder if all Ravenclaws were this stubborn or if this was just particular to the male species as a whole. "I didn't come to talk to you to yell or hit you though it is really, really tempting because you're just so stuck on the idea you took advantage of him and so is he and hitting you is a better option then hitting him. I really think you two need to get together, sit down and talk about this without the constant need to say someone was taken advantage of." She scowled, making it a point to not look at Julien.

Julien started pacing, back and forth because he wanted to go back inside and drift off but he couldn't leave the conversation where it was. "The bottom line is, he doesn't like guys, I kissed him when he was upset, he didn't want me to so obviously I took advantage of him when he was upset. I don't know why he thinks what he does but he didn't do anything wrong, and now he's dating someone else... that's fine." And he didn't know why this hurt so much, but it did. "Can I go now."

Ellie really didn't like that Julien was making assumptions about what her twin did or didn't like. From the conversation she'd had with him she as pretty sure that he at least liked Julien if not boys. It was confusing though since he was with Audrey. Did that mean he liked both? "You... You... You are just so frustrating!" She felt like she was going in circles. "Fine! Don't think that this is over though, mister." She thought that perhaps it was time to do something drastic. She wondered how good locking people in a room together really did...

	Julien flinched away from Ellie at her outburst, expecting her to reach out and slap him the way some girls thought it was okay for them to do. He'd never understood that little inequality of the sexes, and how feminists never seemed to pick up on it. And... was that it? Was it over? "So... I can go?" he asked hesitantly. Did he really just ask that? She felt like twitching. For all she knew she might actually be twitching but was so annoyed she didn't notice that little fact. She just wanted to shake some sense into him and her brother and make them see that neither thought the other was at fault. She could tell that Alfie was upset over the whole thing and Julien seemed upset too. Boys seriously needed to learn how to communicate better. "Yeah, go. Just..." she cut herself off, took a deep breath and let it out before she could say something she'd regret. "Just go."

She turned away from him, walking further on. The cold didn't seem to bother her as much now and she wasn't quite ready to go in or she might blow up at someone not involved and that just wouldn't do.

Thank fuck for that. Julien watched her turnw away from him and likewise turned from her, making his way back into the castle and then making a beeline for his bed. He told his housemates (the few who looked up as he came in) that he was going to bed (nevermind that it was somehwat too early for that) and curled up under the covers with a Daydream Charm. He had another under his pillow so that he could slip from one straight into the other when his current one ended... he muttered the charm and was gone, into a world where none of these problems existed.
