Not knowing Daphne well, Nikolas of course knew her sister even less, even if she was the year below him and he'd probably had plenty of opportunities to interact with her given their shared Common Room. Still, he'd seen and heard enough of Astoria Greengrass to know that what Daphne said was true - the younger girl was considerably more willing to socialize, to get to know the right sorts of people, to play the part of the perfect daughter of a good family. Indeed, he thought, the only thing Daphne seemed to lack that made her less "desirable" than her younger sister was a social nature.
Nikolas tried to imagine his parents wanting to marry off Astrid. The girl herself had expressed to him that she'd wondered it herself, in her last letter to him. Though admittedly, the statement had been sandwiched between Astrid's news that one of the dogs had had a litter of puppies, and that she wished she would get taller soon. She was only nine, after all...her thoughts were elsewhere.
"Dunno. I mean, I don't think so. Not yet, anyway. I don't even know if they'd bother. I think they saw it as more important that I do so, if I'm to be heading a well-known business, I can't just go marry anyone I like. Or something like that, I imagine."
Reaching over to the bag, Nikolas tipped it towards himself and peered in, wondering if there was anything else to eat. Had Harold's mum packed...homemade biscuits?
