Alfie hadn't done much since the disastrous night with Julien, waiting for news of his parents. They'd gotten owls the next morning - everyone was fine but the owl post office in Diagon had been clogged with a queue around the block, apparently, and his mum hadn't been able to owl until the next morning. Which made sense, but didn't make it any less terrifying the night before.
And that was only one of the problems - he'd been trying not to think about that night with Julien. About what had happened that had left him sobbing on the grounds with Julien just... staring. And trying not to think about it, of course, it was the only thing he'd really been able to focus on for days.
But his best friend had a problem, and Alfie was nothing if not a good friend, so he headed to the Common Room and settled into a couch by the fire where he had a view of the stairs so he could see Audrey when she came down.
