Who: Nikolas Vaisey and Audrey Wadcock
When: Sunday evening
Where: The Library
What: Scene lottery!  Nik and Aud both seem to have their eye on the same book - will someone be a good sport and give it up, or will they both fight for it?  Somehow I doubt the latter.
Rating: I doubt very much it'll go beyond G.
Open/Closed: Closed.

To be perfectly frank, Nikolas Vaisey hated going to the Hogwarts library.  The general silence was, admittedly, rather inviting, but as far as he was concerned the good points ended there.  Otherwise, you had that dreadful Pince woman to look out for if you so much as breathed too loudly or looked at a book the wrong way, the sight of overzealous students pouring over tomes they were highly unlikely to glean a higher grade from reading, and the discouraging presence of a "Restricted" section that was no doubt fmostly ull of books that were, at worst, mildly controversial in nature.  At least, that was how he saw it.

Still, just because Nikolas didn't fancy spending a lot of time in the place, didn't mean he could entirely avoid it.  Tonight he was stopping by as a last resort - he'd been working on an assignment for Care of Magical Creatures all afternoon and wanted to make sure he had all of his information correct.  Last he'd looked over the parchments, Nikolas had to admit it was perhaps a bit overdone, and that his disdain for students who spent their weekends in this place was a bit hypocritical.  But Nikolas really liked the class and, regardless of his opinion of Professor Weasley (or at least his family), the man knew a great deal about the subject and was to be respected.  It was proper that Nikolas put his best effort into the assignment, and that meant double-checking some of the assertions he had made toward the end of the essay.

Nikolas, wanting to be in and out of the library as quickly as humanly possible, wove his way through tables and desks with ease, making directly for the aisle in which he expected to find the book.  As he approached the correct shelf, he found that part of the space in front of it was already occupied by a girl he vaguely recognized as being in his year.  Not doing much to acknowledge her presence, he sidled carefully up to her and swept his eyes over the shelf.

Too scared to ask Madame Pince for help, Audrey had scoured the library herself for books on sexuality. There hadn't been much in the way of help, she'd located two old, near crumbling anatomy books as a last resort. Delving back into the maze of books, she found herself in the Magical Creatures section and flipped open a book.

There was no one she could talk to about this, about the feelings she was having for Sam, about what their kisses meant. She'd opened up to Alfie a bit, but it wasn't the same. She couldn't tell him everything and Evie... she didn't know how Evie would react but she didn't feel she could go to her friend with this.

Flipping to the back of the book, Audrey ran her finger down the index of the book, trying to find any mention of sexuality. A noise at the end of the aisle distracted her and she shuffled her books, her heart beating frantically in her ears as she reached up and grabbed a random book off the shelf, trying to play it cool.

Nikolas couldn't help but find the girl's behavior a bit odd. She seemed to be acting very furtively, but as far as he could tell, all she was doing was selecting several books. He even ran his eyes over the spines of the ones she was carrying (and, it seemed, trying to hide the titles of), but neither of them appeared to be from the restricted section or otherwise cause for alarm. Briefly, he turned his attention back to the shelf in front of him, only to find that the book he'd been seeking was not in its proper place. In fact...

Again, he stole a longer glance at the girl. God, what was her name, anyway? Andrea? No...Aub...Audrey. Wad-something. And there it was - the book. His book. Against the two anatomy books she was already holding, one on the history of interbreeding between magical and non-magical creatures was highly conspicuous. Nikolas found it very hard to believe that Audrey was really interested in it, and he felt oddly possessive.

"Er, excuse me," he began, attempting not to startle the girl any more than he already had. "What's the title of that book you're holding?"

He didn't specify which book, assuming that his meaning was apparent. What use would he have for an anatomy text?
