Katie was having a great night. A night out with the girls always was fun and it felt like it had been far too long since they'd indulged in something like this - drinks, dancing, just cutting loose and having a good time. It had started with Ali's journal and Katie suggesting they go out and get shitfaced and now here they were. She wasn't falling down drunk, yet, but she'd drank enough to be feeling pretty good at the moment. The dancing didn't hurt, either. Katie wasn't one for dressing up very often, but for tonight they'd all got gussied up and she had spent the past few hours on the dance floor, dancing with various men as well as her girlfriends. At the moment, though, she was completely parched, so she made her way over to the bar, ordering herself a drink. She didn't recognize the handsome young man at her side and rather than the glare she would have greeted him with back in school, she offered him a friendly grin. Graham usually came out with one intention - to take someone home. Maybe it was piggish, made him an asshole but he didn't care. Women from places like this never actually expected more from him, they didn't want anything more than one drunken night of fun and he was completely ok with that. As were they, usually. Tonight was a problem though, no one was catching his eye beyond the girl on the dance floor with her friends. She seemed familiar but he couldn't put his finger on why. She was beautiful, a shock of blonde against the dark colouring of her friends and that dress? Well, isn't the saying 'it would look better on my floor'? As she danced his eyes would watch her, a smile on his lips as the group had fun. It was only when she was smiling at him, blue eyes on his that he realised who she was and why she was so familiar. Katie Bell. Should he feign innocence? Pretend like he had no idea who she was? Might be easiest, he'd rather not end up with bruise which he probably deserved. "What are you having?" he asked her, leaning in close so she could hear over the music, and as he asked he pulled his wallet out of his dark jeans obviously intending to buy it for her. Katie still hadn't caught on to who he was, but why should she? It had been a good two years, more, since they had last laid eyes on one another and there were more important things plaguing her mind these days. Everything that was going on in the world and then this thing with Ali and with Pucey. Katie wasn't exactly dwelling on people she'd barely known in school when that all felt so long ago. She protested firmly when he seemed to be offering to buy her drink, pulling out her own money to pay for the ale she had ordered. She'd never been a girl for those fluffy, fruity drinks and she'd also never been one to accept help from others, especially where it wasn't needed. This man was certainly handsome enough, but that didn't mean she was going to let him pay for her drink when she was perfectly capable of doing so for herself. She did smile at him once more, at least, trying to take the sting out of her refusal. Men's egos were fragile things, she knew, and she expected him to be mildly insulted that she wasn't willing to let him buy her drink. That amused him, how she just turned away from him. Well, that didn't happen often and oddly enough he kind of liked it. Most women were easy; you bought them a few drinks, smiled in the right places and bingo! they were his. Apparently it wasn't going to be that easy with Katie. Not that he should even pursue her. She was Katie Bell Adrian's... whatever Alicia was best friend. He was pretty sure that put her as off limits though that only made him want her more. "That isn't very nice, Bell, someone offers to buy you a drink you should let them, especially old friends." Hinting at prior knowledge may get her to turn around, pique her curiosity enough to have her turn around. Though right now he was quite enjoying this view too. If he was looking for one of those easy girls, he was definitely barking up the wrong tree. Katie definitely enjoyed a good shag now and again, but that didn't mean she was going to fall all over herself just because he was offering to buy her a drink. Nor was she just going to bat her eyelashes and accept like some simpering moron. She was about to retort at his suggestion that she was being rude, but the latter half of his statement caught her by surprised and she turned again to give him a closer look. "Old friend? I don't know you..." Did she? There was something about him that was vaguely familiar, though she couldn't put her finger on it. He obviously knew her, but she did play reserve for a professional quidditch team, so that wasn't such a stretch. She wasn't exactly famous, but it wasn't hard to find die-hard Harpies fans who knew her name. He seemed altogether too familiar with her, though and a part of her felt like she should know who he was. Maybe it was the alcohol she had already consumed, but she couldn't for the life of her figure out who he was and a part of her - the part that was on her way to drunk and happy to keep talking to a handsome stranger without a care for who he was - didn't think his identity was terribly important. Was he? Most nights, definitely but tonight he might actually be willing to do some work. Those legs would look fantastic wrapped around him. He took a few steps in her direction as she turned towards him, the smile shifting into a smirk, a hint of amusement in his blue eyes as he watched her try and work out who he was. Did he really seem like a Harpie fan? He would hope not, especially not a die-hard one who followed the reserve. "Sure you do," he told her simply and cryptically, "Too many buldgers to the head, Katie?" Gray quizzed with an amused twitch of his lips. "Hogwarts wasn't that long ago." Now he was a step or so away from her. Maybe she didn't recognising him due to the lack of angry sneer, his competitive nature wasn't in full swing like it so often was back in Hogwarts. "Still beautiful," Grey commented almost absently, "at least some things don't change." Which, right then, he was very glad about. This was amusing him more then he'd care to admit, watching her trying to work out who he was and failing miserably. Surprisingly it didn't wound his ego too much to be forgotten. In Katie's defense, she was fairly intoxicated and he definitely looked different from what she would remember later, once she'd sobered enough to realize who it had been she had been speaking with. She might have worked it out tonight, even, if she were really concerned with doing so. The truth was that while it bugged her a little that he knew her but she couldn't remember him, she wasn't honestly that fussed about it. "Maybe you just weren't that memorable," she returned, her tone light and teasing to suggest that she wasn't genuinely annoyed, even if her actual words could have suggested otherwise. It was true, though, that there had probably been quite a few people in school who had known her but who she wouldn't easily remember. Quidditch players tended to be fairly well known by others in the sense that the whole school tended to know who was on each team and it wasn't like the Gryffindor Chasers hadn't earned one of those reputations around school. For being awesome, of course. She wasn't one to have her head easily spun, but she didn't hate it when he called her beautiful. She told herself that was a sure sign that she should stay away from him. Men who threw the word around so easily were generally not to be trusted. Still, she smiled at his words, mumuring a quiet "thank you" as she pulled her cup to her lips to take a sip, as though more alcohol was really what she needed at this point. He would let her off that, wasn't that one of the reasons you came to places like this? To get drunk so you could use that excuse when you woke up next to someone you didn't know. He was a little drunk himself, warmly so but nothing which impaired his judgment. He'd taken enough ugly bints home to stop being that stupid. It was a shock waking up to those the next day. "Then I'll have to work extra hard to make sure you remember me this time," he returned with a cocky grin, his tone held a world of possibility, of how he would make sure she remembered him. The majority of which he certainly could not do here. The simple fact that she didn't move when he'd stepped closer drew him even closer, inches between them if she didn't move. She was a only a few inches shorter than him which put her at a perfect height for him. "And just how do you plan to accomplish that?" she asked, her tone flirty and teasing as she leaned in a little closer, closing the space that hung between then. That cocky grin that would irritate her when sober seemed sexy right now or maybe it was just that it had been a very long time and he was extraordinarily handsome. Whatever it was, she was definitely appreciating his advances or whatever this was. She wasn't really waiting for an answer with as close as they now were. Katie had never been shy or old-fashioned and she found herself leaning up that little bit, letting her breath tickle against his ear as she questioned him and then a moment later her lips were pressing to his jaw, a hint of what she hoped his answer would be. It wouldn't much matter if she found him any more memorable now that they were both adults - he would do for tonight, at least, she was sure. Her question gave rise to the birth of cliché answers which he actually refrained from saying though he was saved from saying anything cheesy when she took the initiative, drawing her lips against his throat. Rather than answer with something horribly cliché would which would likely just again a roll of her eyes he tilted his head to draw her into a kiss; showing her exactly how he was would make himself memorable. Hand lifted to rest on her hip, drawing her in closer into his chest as his lips captured her own. This was probably something he should not be doing because technically she was very much a gryffindor still which meant when she did realise who he was she would definitely not like it. But wasn't that the fun part? A bit of a conquest all in all. Gray pushed all of that aside though and focused on kissing her and how much he would prefer that dress on the floor right now. The kiss was broken to skim his lips across her jaw, a brush against her throat to trail to her ear. "Yours or mine?" He asked her, hands inching upward, tracing the line of her body and telling her to choose quick. When all was said in done, they'd left the club to apparate back to his place, Katie giving into him far more easily than she would have if she hadn't been influence by the alcohol, or that is what she'd tell herself in the morning. The truth was that she'd felt herself incredibly drawn to him even before he'd kissed her fully and once he had, whether to go home with him had felt like an easy decision. It was good, too, what she could piece together as she woke several hours later. Her head ached as did much of the rest of her, but she smiled a rather satisfied smile before she opened her eyes enough to focus on just who it was lying beside her. She didn't do this kind of thing frequently, but she had to admit it had felt amazing at the time. That was before her eyes opened and her vision focused on Gray, of course. It took a moment - her mind was still groggy with sleep - but once it sunk in, who he was, she couldn't move from the bed quickly enough. "Clothes.. clothes... where the bloody fuck are my clothes?" she muttered to herself, frantically searching the room, hopeful that she could just get the hell out of there before he woke up, though she had half a mind to hex his balls off before she went. Clearly, he'd put her under a spell or something. There was no way she'd sleep with fucking Graham Montague otherwise. Gray had been happy to stay in the land of sleep and dreams where she was cuddled against him and he didn't have to think about the repercussions of his actions. That happiness didn't last too long as she slipped out of her bed and a cool draft taking her place. Grumbling lightly he shifted onto his elbow, watching her searching around his room. It was a sight he could easily get used to and a smile tugged at his lips, amusement crinkling his blue eyes as he stretched out. Gray let the memories of last night play out for a moment "You should come back to bed," he told her calmly with a hint of dirty promise to his tone. Clothes were certainly not needed for what he had in mind for her. He obviously didn't care that she was Katie Bell. He had hoped those days of house hatred and judgment were past them but you would think with how she was reacting to this that they were back at Hogwarts. "Or we could go get some breakfast," he suggested, a suggestion which sounded pretty damn good right about then though definitely preferred the first suggestion. "Have you lost your fucking mind?" There was no way Katie was getting back in that bed with him. Was he mad? She'd been drunk and dazed last night, but her eyes were wide open now. Last night, she hadn't recognized him, but now that she did, there was no way she was letting him touch her. "What did you do to me, Montague? Was it a spell? A potion?" It had to be something. She refused to believe that she came to this on her own. She refused to admit that she'd enjoyed it, that any part of her was still attracted to him in the light of day. She would have been disgusted with herself if she wasn't in denial on that point. "Tell me it wasn't memorable," he teased just a little. He didn't let the fact that her comment stung a little show; really, were they all still silly first years running around hating on each other because of the colour of their tie? Did being a Slytherin instantly make him evil or something? It wasn't like he went around hexing people. "Do? Nothing, Bell, you came of your own free will. A few times if I recall," another smirk as he shifted to the edge of the bed. He wasn't too pleased with the thought of being forced to get up but obviously Katie wasn't going to come to bed. "What exactly is the problem? We're both adults having fun. There's nothing wrong with that." Unless she was with someone else, that would be a bit of a problem. "This isn't funny!" she snapped at him as he smirked and, no, she most certainly was not getting back into that bed with him. He was out of his bleeding mind if he thought there was the slightest chance that she was going to do that. This wasn't fun, not for her. He was the last person she wanted to be in this position with and she wasn't admitting to herself that it had been good or that he was mildly attractive or anything even close to either of those two things. It just wasn't going to happen. "You did something!" her eyes narrowed and she clung stubbornly to that believe. "There is no way I came here with you of my own accord. I would never." Oh, she hated him. Whatever he had done to get her here, she was going to make him regret it! Graham sighed, as he rose and shuffled around to find some boxers; he had some form of dignity at times. It was both amusing and tiring how much she was freaking out over this. He watched her hunt around for her clothing before grabbing her bra for her and holding it out. "I did nothing but be my charming, irresistible self. Had I known we were still holding onto the ridiculous Hogwarts bullshit I wouldn't have bothered," he muttered lightly though he'd meant it. And it was ridiculous. Beyond so. Especially as even though it was two years ago it was all he was judged on; Slytherin so obviously a bad guy. Was he being sullen? A little. It was annoying being judged over and over. His claims at doing nothing but be charming were largely ignored, answered with only a look that said she very much doubted it as she retrieved the rest of her clothing, snatching the bra from his grasp and locating the rest of her things as quickly as she could. She was likely being rude, but she couldn't muster the will to care at the moment and the moment she was sure she'd gotten everything, she apparated out of his flat with a pop. Graham Montague. Really, Katie? You are never getting that drunk again. The nice thing about apparating was that it was quick and she could pop straight into the safety of her own bedroom without having to give explanations to the girls for her appearance before she could bathe and make herself presentable again. |
