Who: Hermione and Ron
What: Leaving Work
When: Today
Where: Ministry, then one of their flats
Rating/Warning: TBA, Plotty

Hermione worked late, but tonight she didn't work as late as she usually did - she'd been pouring over those files for two weeks now, and it was time that they really sat down and went through them. Even if it felt too much like seventh year, and pouring through fairy tales for some sort of clue. She'd had a hard time getting started with them because of that, but if they helped to find the group - she was sure it was a group now - who were murdering animagi and living on unicorn blood...

Well, she had to try, didn't she? Even if some small part of her had hoped they'd left this behind.

She went to the DMLE offices and straight through to Ron's desk, tapping at the edge of it to get his attention. "Ready?"

"Always," he said, grabbing his cloak off the back of his chair and stood out of her chair without missing a beat. He was usually ready to head for home at the drop of a hat, and if he was any less eager today he didn't show it. "Your place?" He led the way out. "Or we'll have to get dinner." His flat was pretty bare, but it was also reasonably clean, so it wouldn't be quite as bad as usual.

Honestly, the distraction of stopping to pick up some takeaway might be nice.

"We could stop and get dinner either way," Hermione pointed out, and it wasn't like her to try to put off the inevitable, but some part of her was still screaming that this wasn't their battle

Even if they'd fight.

"But yes, my place. After dinner?"

"Good. What do you say to noodles?" he said, hurrying them out to the Atrium. It was frigid out, and they could eat those fast. As little as he wanted to get started, he knew they should. He might never have suspected it was a fight at all - people did get murdered, after all - but there were bits of it that made his hair stand up, and he wasn't going to let himself sit it out until he knew what they meant.

"That Thai place we found?" She didn't know the name of it, which was odd, but she'd not have been able to pronounce it anyway, and he tended to be better at remembering where the places were that contained food they'd liked.

"Yeah - Sawa ... whatsit. Good one." Ron always had a few brain cells to spare for dinner. He knew the intersection, if not the proper pronunciation. He smiled slightly. "Let's, then. They'll probably be empty enough, since we're skipping out before all the honest workers."

Hermione rolled her eyes, but went about putting her coat on and starting to walk with him. "Maybe you are. My colleagues started disappearing about two hours ago. Those that came back at all from lunch. This close to Christmas, they seem to think they have a right to not work at all."

Ron snorted. "There's dedication for you," he said, while thinking that it sounded as though he needed to switch departments. He could have used a little more time for shopping, not that he knew what he was going to get - and then there was a wedding to shop for, too, of course. He was behind with pretty much everything. That was all stuff that was easy to worry about, though. No real trouble. "Maybe they'll make up for it in January, when they're sick of spending time with all the relatives hanging around the house."
