It took him a moment, but then he remembered that Katie and Alicia had always been close during school and supposed it was still no different. Of course she wouldn't be all right; her best friend was missing and there hadn't been any news about her at all.
"Let me buy you something to eat," Eddie suggested. There was no harm in the gesture, he thought, for he would have done the same for any old friend he had encountered, and it was only a gentlemanly thing to do.
