When he woke up in some muggle hotel room with a splitting headache he knew at once that it was all to be blamed on Flint and Bradley. He couldn't remember exactly what happened but he would never place blame on Goldstein because the guy was far less easy to blame than two of Stephen's closest friends who had money to waste on insane stag parties. He didn't even have time to question anyone about it because when he woke up the sun was already going down. Now that was utterly ridiculous.
He had appeared, just five minutes shy of the time set for the ceremony, with his mates waiting for him and one doing an awful job at hiding a sheepish grin. Stephen had glared at Marcus before he hurried to take his place at the end of the outdoor aisle. He could feel his parents' heated glares at the back of his smooth back hair and tried to ignore how upset his stomach was.
Was that nerve? Or something left over from last night? Nerve, he decided, after all was said and done and they were pronounce legally and magically bound together for all their lives and beyond. He could hardly believe how quickly the ceremony seemed to pass for him, the only moment to have gone incredibly slow being her walk down the aisle.
And raving Rowena she was a sight! A dream, absolute perfection.
They endured the cheers of the crowd of guests and the announcement of, 'Witches and Wizards, I present to you Mr. Stephen Cornfoot and his wife, Mrs. Stephanie Cornfoot!" then they hurried off into the manor house that lay beyond the lawn the ceremony was upon. Stephen could make out in the background another announcement for costumes to be adorned and he caught out of the corner of his eye two large tents springing upward on either side of the lawn. One for witches to change in and one for wizards. The lawn was cleared of the seating with the help of the bridal parties and a dance floor was set up with several round tables and one long table off to one side. The feast, food very similar to what Hogwarts students were used to on a Halloween Feast, began to magically appear on another long table for the guests to gather like a buffet.
It was during that time that Stephen and Stephanie stole off to his old room to change and it was in his old room that he began to apologize, began to beg for any forgiveness she might have in her bones for a fool like him.
"I don't know what happened, I'm so sorry, love, I ruined it.."
