He stepped inside, pausing briefly to lean in and kiss her. He still felt a little surprised, somehow, every time he laid eyes on her, because it hadn't been so long ago that they had literally stumbled into one another, and now here he was, feeling quite free to walk into her house and do this.
"Hello," he said after a moment, his smile taking on a slightly more satisfied shade as it became clear he wasn't about to be laughed out of the house for his sartorial changes. "You look great," he added a touch breathlessly, because I missed you, which was what he meant, sounded rather sappy. "Must be keeping the kids well in hand, right? Do you want a drink? I've brought a bottle. You know, to help with creativity." He grinned.
