Who: Harold Dingle, Padraig Montague, and Kaie Bundy
When: October 6th, evening
Where: A pub in London
What: Padraig and Harold find their old friend not playing nicely with others.
Rating: TBD, will change as necessary.
Status: Closed/Incomplete.

It had been a pretty long day for Padraig. Running around chasing after files, and avoiding Scott all day had been tiring. One of his co-workers wasn't to happy with him after he told him as nicely as he could to "Feck off" and lead him alone so he could get work done and that he didn't really care about that stupid pointless memo that he had circulated that morning. Plus, he was trying to be a decent person to shadow for Harold. He was super excited about this assignment, and there would be field work next week, but none the less he still a little worried about doing a good enough job and not blurring the lines of friendship and work too much. He didn't want Harold to get into too much trouble after all.

So, clocking out right on time, as not to upset their boss, Paddy, accompanied naturally by his best friend, decided that grabbing a pint after work sounded like the best idea in the world. They walked into a local pub and walked right up to the bar. As they were waiting and chatting about the upcoming start of the Quidditch season when Padraig just decided to turn a little bit to see what was going on else where in the pub. And then he spotted her. A red head leaning over the pool table with a rather unhappy, and rather large man standing right next to her. "Oi, Harold," Paddy said elbowing his friend a little. "Looks whose here." he said using his thumb to point over to where Kaie was.

Unlike the previous weeks at work behind a desk seemed to drone on for hours, that wasn't the case lately. Harold was beyond happy that he had finally been assigned to shadow another auror. Only one more year, and he wouldn't have to deal with trainee assignments tossed in his lap. He wanted to get his hands out in the world and show his superiors exactly how well he intended to accomplish any job that might find it's way towards him. Nothing against his best friend being chosen to partake in helping him through training, he wanted to have his auror license already. One already belonged to him. That much Harold knew. He simply had to work his way carefully to that position. Leave it to him to be over confident in a situation that was of great importance for the rest of his life. He didn't want to grasp ahold of the fame that his late father had within the position, nor would he ever expect such treatment either. This was something that he had to accomplish all on his own. He had already made it that far on his own, the last stretch would be the most difficult though. It was plain to see.

Harold had clocked out on time, unlike the previous night that he had left with Paddy. The last thing he wanted was another lecture from his boss. It wasn't too bad, but wasn't a situation that he wanted to find himself under once again, especially since the elder man had strong body odor that reeked from the pores. A conversation about the upcoming quidditch season had kept the two busy throughout the walk towards a nearby pub. The lingering affects after the World Cup had already subsided, ready for the new matches to begin as soon as possible. Harold couldn't resist stating that his money had been placed on Falmouth once again for the current season. They had won the last final match, so they were in a shoe in to win once again. Puddlemere had been overrated in his opinion, even though neither of the two teams had been his favorite.

Upon entering the pub, it was easy to spot the familar red-head near the pool table. It had become a second nature to search in that particular areas of pubs for a long while, especially since he had a good friend that was a shark during each game. Some husslers had never ceased through the years, even though Harold had turned over a slightly new leaf. There were times where he had slipped into that frame from time to time, however, he had been true to his occupation for the most part. Feeling the slight nudge a few minutes later, he had returned an intial reaction with a nod of his head. "Yeah, I see her. Always doing what she does best," he responded the latter part of his words a slight bit lower then normal.

"Shall we make our presence know, or wait a little while?" he asked, taking a short glance at Paddy before turning his attention back towards Kaie.

After leaving work, Kaie had decided that she needed a drink. So, she'd headed down to one of the local pubs that she tended to frequent on days like this. After giving her usual nod of greeting to the bartender, she made her way over to the pool tables, just to scope out the people playing. She hadn't intended on playing that night. No. It just so happened that, after overhearing a rather large man win a substantial amount of cash off of another patron, the same man noticed Kaie, and offered to teach the 'pretty little lady' how to play the game. So, what had once started out as an innocent drink, soon turned into a game of "lets cheat this muggle out of his money."

So she put on her usual act, smiling a little when the bartender rolled his eyes at her. It started out with "Oh, wow, I don't know. The game looks so complicated and hard" and it ended with "wow, you're such a good teacher. I have an idea, we'll make a bet. If I win, you give me everything that's in your pockets, save for your keys. But if you win, you get the pleasure of my company for the night." Kaie was proud to say that she never lost, and tonight was proving no different. As soon as the man was hooked to her story, the real fun started.

She'd let them break, to give them the feeling that they had the upper hand. She'd pretend to be confused for a moment over which shot to take after that, because "gosh, there were just so many choices". Then came her favorite part; sweeping the table right in front of their eyes. Sure, her little game had resulted in a few bar fights, but nothing serious, and nothing she couldn't handle herself.

Bending over the table, she smirked. "Eight ball, corner pocket." She told the agitated looking man beside her as she sent the cue ball down the green felt, sinking the eight for the win.

Paddy let himself look around the pub a little bit more, just surveying the crowed, all the while still listening to Harold. He couldn't help it, it was just like second nature to him by now. Even off duty Padraig was the observant kind, he'd always been like that. Just because he didn't mention it, or say anything didn't mean that he wasn't paying attention. Besides, the guy Kaie was cheating right now didn't look too happy, so a few preventative measures and initial scouting never hurt anyone. "Of course she is, wouldn't want her skills to get rusty now would we?" he said as he lowered his voice, still with an amused smirk on his face.

He enjoyed bantering with the other woman. Frequently getting into arguments over whose job was better. Clearly it was his, after all, little kids strived to be where he is today. Plus, knowing that they only took a select number of people a year (if at all), well, that just made him proud to be where he was. He still was one to give credit where credit was due though. The Hit Wizards were a tough bunch and more than one occasion he caught himself thinking that he'd have trouble doing some of that on a daily basis (mainly in regards to some bowsies that regularly found their way into his office by mistake.). Which is why he frequently just let Kaie win the arguments.

"I think we should head over there." Padraig decided on as he put down the money on the counter for the first round. He grabbed his pint and took a drink from it before he spoke again. Man did that taste good. Honestly, there wasn't that many things in this world that felt as good after a long day as taking that first sip of the black stuff. "Besides, do you really want to pass up the chance to mess with her in front of the competition?" he said amused with a small nod over to the bloke she was playing against.
