WHO: Daphne Greengrass & Blaise Zabini.
WHAT: Blaise requested Daphne present while he makes a very important purchase.
WHERE: Zabini Manor → Knockturn Alley.
WHEN: Early this afternoon.
RATING/STATUS: PG-13 - more than likely, will change if necessary / Open to Blaise Zabini.

Shopping.

That's what Blaise called it when he requested her over. How could a woman ever deny an offer to go shopping, even if Daphne had everything she could ever want in the world within her possession, she was bound to find more. Besides, if there was one person she could rely on to spoil her rotten, it was Blaise Zabini. Her best friend since childhood, he was the one person - aside from her sister - that she could rely on to not disappoint her. Of course, there were exceptions, but unlike most people who disappointed her in the past, Daphne was a little more forgiving towards him. That's why she didn't have to be asked twice to go on a shopping day with him. Slipping into a pair of black stilettos, Daphne made her way to the door, only to pause and check herself in the mirror. Running her fingers down the front of her black pencil skirt, she smoothed it over her body. Daphne was dressed rather modestly, then again, she wasn't known for dressing scandalously. Her mother raised her to be a socialite, with all the social graces and expectations of a woman of high society and class. Once satisfied with her appearance, Daphne plucked up her wand, and slipped it into a hidden pocket on the skirt and turned on her heels and disappeared from the foyer.

A loud crack announced her presence within the Zabini Manor, startling a house elf who was dusting on one of the window ledges. The creature went toppling down from its perch with a loud shriek. Sighing in frustration, Daphne turned her head away from the elf as she glanced around the foyer. "Tell Mister Zabini that I have arrived. I'll be waiting in the drawing room." Clearing her throat, she waved a hand to dismiss the creature. She could hear it grumbling and muttering under it's breath as it skittered off into the house. Sneering slightly, Daphne couldn't stand elves. They were such vile creatures to have around the home and their subservient nature infuriated her more than made her happy. She hated them around her home as she grew up, the way they doted on her and attempted to make her comfortable and happy with their overwhelming and obtrusive nature. The moment she inherited her parents home in England, she made sure she got rid of the elves inhabiting the home. She didn't want them running around calling her "mistress", and bending to her every want and need. Of course, Daphne wasn't the type to clean and keep a house, either, so instead she hired human servants. Mostly squibs and lower class wizards who Daphne saw herself as higher in class and nature. It was definitely an improvement from the elves, and she didn't feel so disgusted having servants cook for her than to have elves cook for her.

Heels echoed through the front hall and into the drawing room, pacing across the room, she moved to the window and glanced out over the grounds. This all could have been hers if Blaise had asked Daphne. The grounds lacked any animals, and was pristine in its upkeep. Instead of dogs and cats and other animals running around the grounds, there was the occasional bird that dotted the sky but that was it. Placing her hands on the flare of her hips, she tilted her head slightly to try and look past a tree and further out over the expansive grounds. Daphne knew Zabini Manor inside and out, she knew this house was practically hers. Blaise told her on numerous occasions that she was always welcomed at his home. Blue eyes searched the grounds, following one of the paths with her gaze. The last time she came by they were meeting on rather hostile grounds. This time felt different than that time. She felt much more at ease and calm. She didn't have the stress of Blaise being upset weighing heavy on her mind. This was just going to be a simple outing, right? Nothing more than two best friends heading out to Diagon Alley to shop and spend time together.

Where was Blaise anyways?

Blaise hadn't known what compelled him to retire early from the game of quidditch. Someone of his calabor didn't fit playing in the rain or getting knocked hard to the head by a bludger. His mum had made comments for as long as he could remember, long before the faithful day that he had made the house team back within Hogwarts. To say the very least, she had been disappointed in him, however, Blaise never made any expression that he cared about her thoughts on the game of quidditch. He enjoyed flying through the air, scoring points to become close to cletching a victory, and the most important part, playing in the World Cup. The handful of years that he had played within Falmouth Falcons had been beyond spectacular, even though Blaise had barely showed it outwardly, but it had to come to an end sooner or later to accomplish other things. Grander ideas. That's the particular reason that he had invited his best friend to take a trip with him to Diagon Alley. He had planned to spoil Daphne with anything that might catch her eye, but had no doubt within his mind, she had to know the idea first before anyone else. That was the reason he hadn't announced his retirement in his journal yet.

Daphne recieved the entire story and idea first before anyone got a sliver of such a thought. As always, Blaise valued her opinion far more than anyone that he had crossed paths in his life.

Anxious. That's exactly what summed up how Blaise felt about telling Daphne what he had planned on building up instead of playing quidditch professionally. Of course, he would miss participating within the sport, but all things ended one way or another. He was a man to take an idea and turn it into an opportunity, holding on to it as long as possible to make a profit. Merlin, already knew how wealthy he had been, ever growing. It was an idea to triple everything that he owned. All he had to was hope that his best friend enjoyed the idea throughly and truthfully.

A faint, familiar crack was heard down the hallway, knowing exactly without a second though who had appeared within his mansion. Blaise had known Daphne for years. Every scent. Every movement. And even the sound that she made when she apparated. Normally, others weren't allowed an action within a home, but he made an exception for the beautiful woman, especially since she was welcomed over at any hour of the day that her heart desired. Already hearing the patter of house elf feet shuffling in his direction, that had become overshadowed by Daphne's heels coming in contact with the ground with each step, Blaise smoothed out his suit, making sure that his appearence was better than decent in the near by mirror. Just as a hand ran across his hair lightly, the creature squeaked the arrival of the woman. Unlike announcing the arrival of others by their last name, Blaise had ordered none of the house elves within the Zabini mansion to never mention the last name that she was bound to. To him, his best friend marrying Nikolas was an accident, so there was no need to speak of the last name "Vaisey".

With a slight nod, Blaise had already walked out of the previous room that he had previously occupied and strided down the long hallway. It had only been a matter of time where he had reached Daphne within the drawing room. Her appearence had been stunning, causing him to pause to admire the beautiful woman for a few moments. Just as she paced back towards his direction, Blaise had taken a few more steps into the room with a small smile spreading at the corner of his lips. "My dear, you look absolutely beautiful. I hope I didn't keep you waiting far too long," he spoke through the silence, taking ahold of her hand and pressing his lips to the top softly. "You know that I hadn't done such a thing on purpose."

Already, he resisted on pressing lips upon her own. It was difficult, but somehow he managed to keep the yearning at bay.

Daphne was shocked when Blaise told her he planned on retiring from Quidditch, especially since this was what he dreamed of doing for as long as she had known him. He was a brilliant quidditch player, she really couldn't picture him doing something else. However, Daphne knew that Blaise was a smart man, a genius when he put his mind to something, so it wouldn't be too hard for his passion to be placed into something else. Besides, Blaise had enough in his possession to be jobless for the rest of his great-great-grandchildrens life, why should he worry about working? Watching the grounds, her ears perked at the sound of Blaise approaching. Crimson painted lips curled into a broad smirk, as she glanced over her shoulder towards Blaise. Studying him quietly for a moment, Daphne finally turned around and made her way over to him.

"I wasn't waiting long," Allowing him to take her hand and press a kiss to the top, she shook her head. "You know, love, you really ought to look into getting servants. It might be time for that house elf to be released. It fell off the window when I arrived, that's a liability. Might bring the wrath of Granger and her SPEW campaign upon your house." Brushing his hand away from hers, she threw her arms around his shoulders and pulled herself against him for a hug. Pressing a kiss to his cheek, she rested her head on his shoulder for a brief moment.

"So, what are we shopping for today?" Lifting her head from his shoulder, she pulled back from him. She wasn't going to say that she should probably be back for dinner. She didn't want to ruin how positive this day was starting off to be. Besides, this time around, their meeting was rather innocent. Daphne wasn't about to change that. The last time they were together was enough drama to last her for the next five years. She didn't want to provoke any more ill feelings, so when it came to talking about her married life, she was just going to bite her tongue. "Which reminds me, I got you a retirement gift."

Pulling out her wand, she made a very careful line with her wand, and reciting the extension charm. A small black box came into view, and Daphne quickly flicked her wand to enlarge it to it's normal size. Holding it out for Blaise to take, she made sure to watch for his reaction. Honestly, the gift wasn't anything fancy. It was just a simple black wooden box, but opening it up revealed the box to be a cufflink box, and inside were two pairs of rather expensive looking cufflinks. It felt strange to get Blaise a retirement gift, how old was he? It wasn't typical to have someone so young retire from anything. However, Daphne wasn't going to judge, this was Blaise's decision, and she would honor that.

He had known whole heartedly that it would come to a surprise towards anyone of his early retirement. The choice hadn't come out of the blue, really. Thoughts swirled his mind about the sport becoming a lasting profession into his mid-thirties or so. However, when the thought dawned as an idea, it slowly grew into an investment that Blaise couldn't deny himself any longer. If he had been so sure of himself before, he would have made some sort of hint towards Daphne. However, since his thoughts weren't for certain, thoughts remained locked within his mind until the final descion came forth. Honestly, Blaise surprised himself. It wasn't like him to choose a side that his mum supported, despite the two being alike in many different ways. Of course, he wouldn't allow himself to believe in such things, pretending a likeness never existed between the two. He did have to give credit where it was due though. She was the reason behind the fact that he would be supported for the rest of his life and through a couple of generations.

Approaching Daphne in a calm demenor, Blaise had done so easily, not giving a hint of what he had been feeling at the pit of his stomach. The anxiousness grew quickly, but subsided for a little while as he had been staring at her from a distance. A part of him wanted to blurt out the reason behind their unexpected shopping, but he kept the thought to himself for a little while longer. "Good. That was what I had hoped, even though you know me, love. I do enjoy being fashionably late once in a good while," he replied with a broad smirk spreading across his expression just as easly as it had appeared on the woman before him. As the conversation had turned towards the subject of the help that he kept around the home. For as long as he could remember, the Zabini mansion contained house elves. A few of them had still been doing their duties since he had been a child, never the thought of freeing them from their bound to the family name. True, some could have been a liability, however, the creatures had been what his mum had preferred. That was the only reason that he had kept the help for that long. "Can't have that flithy mudblood around here, true. I shall think about it. How does that sound?" he asked, usually coming up with the same answer as the topic rounded every once in a while. And of course, he had always thought about the pros and cons about getting rid of the house elves.

As Daphne's arms had rounded his shoulders, he had returned the hold, sliding his own around her waist and pulled her close. Blaise always wished that there were more moments such as the one that they were having. Oh, how he wished that he had revealed how he truly felt about his best friend years ago. However, the fear of hurt had always loomed in the back of his mind. If he had done such a thing, he would never forgive himself. Since she had followed her mum's wishes a few years ago to wed Nikolas, Blaise had been kicking himself mentally because of that event for quiet a while. As he held her close and feeling a kiss upon his cheek, he had returned it as well, holding her within the hug for a few more seconds. A part of him didn't want the closeness to end, even though it had to eventually. After all, he had asked her to come shopping with him for an important reason. It had to be done today or at least look through Knockturn and Diagon Alley for possible areas of set ups.

"Well, it's very important," he replied with a grin, still remaining vague about the entire ordeal. If it had been the other way around, Blaise would have been attempting to get the secret out earlier. A few kisses and gifts might have gotten such a thing to spout from Daphne's lips, but one couldn't be all too sure. Sometimes, things had be pressed on harder. To his recollection, he had always succeeded in getting her to spill the beans. A part of him wonder exactly how much time that they had together that day. He knew that she had to return eventually to married life, no matter how much the thought killed him or tried to convince her to remain with him. If he tried, she would agree one day, right? Maybe. All he could do was hope.

Widening his eyes just slightly, Blaise hadn't been expecting a gift from Daphne, let alone a retirement one. He didn't know that he was entitled to one on the account of his age. Not many in their early twenties came to the conclusion to leave a profession that they honestly enjoyed. He wasn't like the ordinary ones though. At least, Blaise had always thought that he was a few cuts above the rest. "A gift?" he asked, almost in a confused tone of voice. He watched her carefully, especially the movements, before taking ahold of the box that was held out before him. Normally, the gift giving had been opposite. Nine out of ten times, it had been Bliase spoiling the panites off of Daphne rather easily, which he enjoyed throughly. But he had to admit, receiving a gift felt good as well.

Blaise opened the box carefully, and piered within as a true smile spread across his facial features. The gift had been something that he had been meaning to obtain for a while now. Thankfully, his best friend knew him all too well. "These are quite remarkable, my love. Even though the gift wasn't expected, thank you dearly," he replied, wanting to make sure that she knew that it was appreciated. Following his words, Blaise had leaned in close towards Daphne, pressing their lips together for a few moments. "Have I told you lately how incredable you are, darling?" Silently, he already promised that he would purchace a few items for her on their outting.

Daphne seemed to be shocking herself more and more, each time she found herself more tolerable of a person. Or the fact that she was finding herself enjoying being married to Nikolas. One thing that remained a constant for Daphne was Blaise. Having him in her life was that single solitary rock in her life that made sure when everything else was going to come crashing down - because in Daphne's mind everything will eventually do that - she could rely on Blaise to be there. Even now, though they weren't married, Daphne knew that Blaise was always going to be there for her. It's just the way he was and it's just the way that she was. A tiny smile curled on her lips as she watched him open the gift. After so many years, Daphne was amazed that she could still predict exactly what would make him happy.

The brief kiss made her gasp against his lips. Merlin, Blaise knew how to take her breath away, even if it was just with a kiss. "I believe you have," Smirking playfully, stormy blue eyes studied him, "but I have no objections to you telling me that all the time." Pressing a kiss to her fingers, she pressed them to his lips. No matter what, Daphne knew that Blaise would always have her heart. She had no doubt that he would marry off eventually, only because she knew how much he wanted his legacy to live on. She knew that come his wedding, Daphne would be a no show, and she would be heartbroken. Then again, that was likely how he felt about her getting married. Daphne knew that Blaise didn't show up to her wedding, and she knew it was probably for the best.

"So, this very important thing that we're shopping for... it wouldn't happen to have to do with your retirement, hm?" Arching a finely sculpted brow, Daphne placed a hand on her hip. "Which reminds me, you still haven't told me what you plan on doing. Not that you're obligated to do anything." She added quickly. Who was Daphne to judge? Look at her. Filthy rich, and living the life of a stereotypical socialite. She wasn't working, she wasn't partying either. She was living a quiet life in the lap of luxury with all her wishes and demands being met. She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, and she was still eating with a silver spoon. Daphne wasn't ashamed of that fact, on the contrary, she absolutely loved being rich. The idea of living below those standards disgusted her, and frankly, scared her. She couldn't imagine growing up like a Weasley, or worse, ending up like a Parkinson. Daphne was for all intent and purposes, a complete and utter snob.

Which was why, whenever Blaise wanted to spoil her, she didn't protest. She loved when he spoiled her, she loves being spoiled. "Though, it is going to be strange watching quidditch and not seeing you in the pitch." Sighing rather dramatically, she pressed a hand to her forehead. "I shall never watch quidditch ever again." Dropping the act, Daphne just shook her head and smirked. "To be honest, love, I only watched quidditch because you were playing. Now that you're not, I suppose I shall have more free time on my hands." Brutally honest? That was Daphne. Even with her best friend, she didn't hold back. Daphne was not the type to sugarcoat anything, and why should she? If people weren't strong enough to handle the truth, then they weren't meant to talk to Daphne. It was easier for her to be flat out and blunt with a person initially versus leading them on to think that she was actually someone nice.

As much as Blaise enjoyed being with Daphne every chance that they had with each other, he wanted more. Time always seemed so be so little between them, yearning for more every single day. If he had a chance to return to the past and redo everything, he would have make the beautiful woman his a long time ago. They never had a chance to explore being a couple. As much as Blaise feared that he might hurt her in someway, never forgive himself it came to such an end, but a part of him believed that it wouldn't have that outcome. Everytime he had the chance to enjoy being around his best friend, the more he realized that what he had been feeling was indeed love. Such a feeling had been weird, masking itself in something completely different. It was a mystery to him of the reason behind the delay in realization. Sometimes, he felt the urge to kick himself in the pants. Blaise had let the perfect woman slip through his fingers, even more that she honestly belonged to him throughout th years of Hogwarts.

He was a dolt sometimes. His mum would have thought the same as well, if she was still among the living.

"I do enjoy telling you every chance that I get, darling. It's hard to resist speaking such words, so they come out more often than not," he responded with a smirk of his own, placing a kiss upon Daphne's fingers as they pressed against his own lips. Oh, how she made him yearn for more. Remembering the important business that must been accomplished on that day, he resisted the urge to pull her against his body, giving in to his desires. It was diffcult to make such thought subside, but taking in a deep breath and allowing a few seconds later things felt more at ease.

As the conversation turned into the reason behind their meeting upon that day, Blaise knew that he couldn't hide it much longer. It did feel good to withhold such a brilliant idea from Daphne for a short while, dangling it in front of her for a short while. "That it does," he replied with a short nod, wathching Daphne's movements before him. A hand slipped in the space between her forearm and body, placing it on the small of her back and slowly bringing her close to his body. As the gift layed perfectly still within the other, he couldn't help but smirk almost greedly at the closeness that they had been sharing so easily. What he would give to act such a way again in front of her pathetic, useless husband. The look on Nikolas face was something that Blaise would call priceless. Allowing his fingers to trail down her back slowly, he tilted his head and gazed within the beautiful eyes before him. "What are your thoughts on casinos, love?" Even though he asked her opinion on the subject that he planned on pursing now that he no longer played for any quidditch team, Blaise hoped that she thought that they were at least interesting in a good way.

Glancing at the gift within his posession, Blaise had the thought on wearing them on their outting. There was only one problem with doing just that. "I'd wear the cuff links today, however, I don't think they quite match this suit. I can change in something else if you'd like? You'd have to watch though," he added with a grin. No one could blame the bloke for pulling such a line of the sort. Even though there had been plenty of time for them to have such an intimate moment.

"Actually, I'm surprised that you watched what you did of quidditch, even with me playing. I know you don't enjoy the sport, but I always appreciated that you gave up your spare time to watch me," he answered truthfully. Blaise knew that she forced herself to stay out through most of the game. If they happened to last a bit too long then normal, then Daphne would find her way back within the castle or home, whichever had been more appropriate for the time. He always enjoyed her brutal honestly as the conversation continued on, never wanting to sugarcoat on such subjects because that would mean that something would be wrong if the reaction was the opposite. Glancing at their closeness, Blaise allowed his lips to trail slowly along her chin. "Then, we have to figure out what to do in that extra time, especially since the time was spent for me. It would be only fair if that continued, don't you think? I have plenty of ideas of what to fill that time with, my love." Plenty of ideas, which some included being along in certain bedrooms of the Zabini mansion.
