Adrian's own gut clenched when she looked at him that way and when she kissed him, it was all he could do to return it, just as desperate and wanting. His hands gripped her tightly as their lips fused together that one last time and when she pulled away, he couldn't speak. He wasn't certain if he could even breathe.
"Ali," he started. She couldn't just kiss him like that and walk away. If she wanted this as badly as she'd seemed to in this moment, she just couldn't.
But she did. She uttered those last words and all Adrian could do was stand there and stare at the empty space she'd just vanished from in shock, wanting to go after her, but not knowing where she'd gone or what he would even say.
