He thought it was a quite valid question. Adrian didn't understand her little freak out, because as far as he had known this had been a mutual thing. In fact, she had all but thrown herself at him in the club, if he remembered properly and now he didn't understand the way she was acting.
"Damn right it was amazing," he muttered in reply as he started to move toward her. Confusion colored his expression once more as she repeated that she couldn't.
"What do you mean you can't, Ali? What? Is there someone else? I don't understand." He swallowed hard as the words had left his lips. What if there was? What was that clenching in his gut at the thought that she was with someone else? There was no jealously. They didn't have jealously. This had only ever been physical between them, nothing more.
Only he knew that wasn't true. He knew as he looked at her now that this was more than wanted another good shag. After two years of not having her in his life, she was right here, here in his flat and he wanted her to stay. Because he'd missed her.
"Please, Ali," he pleaded with her. "Just tell me what's going on."
