Andrew couldn't look Jack in the eye, couldn't even look up to see Jack come in, afraid of what he would or wouldn't see, afraid of what Jack could or couldn't see in him.
He looked at the peace offering but even that wasn't safe, and then Jack was apologising and Andrew found that having the certainty that Jack viewed what had happened as such a big mistake was actually worse than not knowing. He smiled and it looked like he was about to be shot; "It's okay." he said, that unsmile still there and the rest of him bone-deep exhausted. "It's okay, you were upset-" he thought. "-it's okay, you don't have to apologise. It was just a mistake and we can move on." Or Jack could anyway; Andy was going to be stuck here for the rest of his life.
