Theo lifted a hand to rub at his nose, blinked as the motion flung water up against his face and watched quietly as Greg looked back at him. His mind was like an object hidden under a shallow pool, his sanity just light filtered through the surface of the water that sometimes skittered over the object; the only way he was going to get any better would be for that light to shine over him a little more, and being with Greg was doing that.
It was probably a good thing that he wasn't aware enough yet to properly translate Greg's behaviour as the brief lapse of faith that Greg had because it might have extinguished that light for a good while, if not forever.
He perked up a little as Greg made his way back, an anxious look on his face that flitted away and he nodded to Greg's question; as nice as the warm bath was, being out of Greg's head like this grated on his nerves a little. He reached for Greg but his arms dropped as Greg came no closer, chewing at his lip at the next question because he couldn't make it fit around into something he could comprehend.
The next question was even less understandable to him and he licked at his sore lip before attempting an answer. "You're wonderful, a warmth, you feel nothing like searching stealing hands sliding in under sheets, no, you, you're big, big hands, big heart, warm and, and no classmates, no sharp glass pieces inside cutting and p-piercing-" he swallowed those words and carried on a little frantically. "No, nothing like them, like that, you're like, like flying, you swoop, soar on wings, and I, I the stone, an anchor... holding down, break those wings, in the way of the bird broom, no more wonderful flying and, and I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." He whimpered this now, tearful but determined to say his peace, to try and tell Greg how he felt even through the Kandinsky painting that was his head. "I'm so sorry, Greg, but you're those gentle hands, gently bend, warm and over all and, and-" he reached out, leant out to rub his thumb at Greg's cheek, just about reaching with his bony arm all stretched out. "and Greg."
