It was only a matter of time that Zacharias had opened the door, followed by the usual laugh spread across his good friend's face. Downtimes, such as the one he was currently in, were far and few for Ernie. There were times that he had wanted to toss all the responsibilities out of a window and completely out of mind. However, that would cause him to be fired. He was sure none of his friends would want that, no matter how busy he might be every single day. Pressing all thoughts of work aside, all he could hope was an evening filled with practically anything else that caused him to feel down in the dumps for the last week or so.
Shaking his head with a smile, Ernie knew that Zacharias was merely joking. That's how they were with each other every time that they came in contact since they met each other at a young age. It was to be expected, always. But where the prat could dish it out, Ernie could return them just as easily within seconds. "Now, now. Can't have you jealous if I spend sometime with your girlfriend. I know you have a feline fetish," he replied, already making himself welcomed in his good friend's flat. Glancing around slightly, it was highly noticable that he hadn't been within Zacharias' place in quite a while. Things seemed different or possibly rearranged, unsure which one had been the correct one.
Ernie had felt the clap on his back just as he passed Zacharias, hearing talk about work already. Facial expression didn't change all that much, even when thoughts of Susan entered his mind easily right behind the first thought. It was only natural after all, especially since work was the cause of the relationship ending. "So, are you looking for the answer," he paused a bit, looking as though there had been a weighing of the pros and cons considering which one would have been better, before glancing back at the blonde boy. "Medium?" With a single word, he couldn't help but sound like a smart ass.
Watching the cork of the bottle being opened with the waft of short smoke, Ernie took ahold of the tumblers within his grasp and raised it up a little. "Cheers," he replied moments later, before downing a bit of the alcholic drink, feeling the hot liquid run down his throat smoothly. "How's everything going with you as of late?" he asked, plopping down on the nearest arm chair, squirling the item in his hand slightly.
