Who: Zacharias Smith (Narrative).
When: September 16th. Afternoon.
Where: Graveyard.
What: Visting the grave of an old friend.
Rating: Low.
Status: Closed/Complete.

It was something that Zacharias did every few months. He went to the site of Justin's grave to 'talk' to his old friend. It seemed a natural thing to do, although he hated doing it - hated it because it meant that Justin was in the ground and not alive and talking and walking and laughing and doing all of the things that he had always done.

He brought flowers, because it was the right thing to do, and also a bag of Justin's favourite sweets. And he knew that it was silly to do so, because Justin couldn't eat them, but he did it anyway.

He set the things down and then set himself down, curling his long legs up in the grass as he sat facing the tombstone, the etchings still clear and sharp and fresh, as if they had only just been made. Justin Fitch-Fletchly. Zacharias shook his head a little bit and felt a pang. Because it wasn't right, it wasn't fucking fair that Justin was here.

"Hey, Justin," he said as if picking up a conversation that had been started. He pressed his hands to the cool grass and leaned back on his arms, strands of blonde hair falling across his forehead. He studied the stone for a moment or two, reading words that he knew so well.

"So England won the World Cup," he started then. He had always wondered, before, about the habit of people talking to graves, but now he understood. "Course we did, though, no surprise there." A little grin. "And the season will be starting up soon. I'll be brilliant, as always." Cocky Zacharias, as always. Although it was largely in jest right then, because that was how Justin would have expected him to be were he alive.

"Susan and Ernie aren't getting married anymore," he said then, grimacing slightly. "I'm not sure what happened there. Suse say's they're not together but I don't know. They just fit, you know?" And he hated to see his friends upset, or hurting.

"Wayne's got some weird Muggle bird who moved in with her. I don't trust her. No, not because she's a Muggle." There was a pause, and then a rueful look. "Okay, that's a part of it." Once upon a time that would have been the whole of it, but his time at Hogwarts had taught him a few things. When he had entered the school he had been a complete elitist, as he had been raised to be. But then he had met people like Justin, who was Muggleborn, and he hadn't been able to hold onto all of his snobby ways. Just, some of them. "But because she just moved on into his flat and is following him around - it's weird, is what it is."

His fingers plucked absently at the grass under his hand as he continued. "I saw Hannah recently - and her little girl. Who's going to be as pretty as her mother. She doesn't like me much. The kid, that is. Not Hannah."

And then he was grinning and leaning forward a bit. "Oh, get this. Eloise asked me to find someone to set her up with. Me, a matchmaker. Can you believe that? No, me neither. Still, I do want her to find someone who's good enough for her. If such a creature exists. I used to think she and Wayne would get together. He always called her Belle and.. well, you know. But I guess not." He shrugged his shoulders.

"And Megan is good as well. Working as a herbologist - you know how she was always good at that stuff. And thinking about opening her own shop, which I think she should. She has a way with people, you know?" He leaned back on his arms again and looked briefly up at the sky.

"And then there's this Merlin fellow.. no, not that Merlin. This one went to Hogwarts. He's... well." Zacharias had no idea how to explain the Seer. So instead he just grinned. "I'll save that for next time. I've got to keep you wanting more, yeah?" He smiled for a moment longer before he sobered.

"We all miss you," he said then. "I miss you." He said it every time he came to visit, but it didn't stop being true. Zacharias had never really experienced loss before Justin, before the War. Of, the odd relative had died, but they had always been distant relatives, people Zacharias hardly knew at all.

"We all miss you." He reached into his coat and pulled out a small frame. Inside was a photograph, of the eight of them, aqt the end of Sixth Year when everything still seemed good. Waving and smiling for the camera. Zacharias set it down in front of the grave marker, before he pushed himself to his feet. Touching his hand to the smooth stone briefly. "I'll come back and see you," he said, before he turned to leave.
