Characters: Maeve Sheridan and Delaney Twilfitt
Setting: Friday evening, after business hours, at Maeve's flat.
Summary: Another dinner after another awkward exchange.
Rating: PG for the moment, but let's say TBD to be safe considering the participants.

Maeve shouldered open the door to her flat, holding onto her oversized bag of Chinese take away with both arms. It was so easy, with Chinese food, to over order and Maeve was no exception. She glanced at her journal before shoving it aside to unload the bag, sure without even glancing that Delaney would accept the invitation and Apparate in shortly. Regardless, she waved her wand at the food and placed a warming charm on it.

She dug a corkscrew out of the utensil drawer, uncorked a bottle of red she had sitting on the counter and pulled out both of the wineglasses she owned. Sitting down on one of the stools she had at the counter she settled in and poured herself a glass while she resisted the urge to start eating. She swirled the wine around in the glass before she took a sip and pulled a copy of the Practical Potioneer toward her, leaning on the counter as she flipped through the pages, looking for the most interesting article.

Delaney was absolutely ravenous as she apparated into Maeve's flat, smelling the Chinese food and feeling her mouth start to water. "Hey," she greeted the girl, bending down and kissing her on the cheek. "What'd you get?"

It wasn't as if she was the world's foremost authority on Chinese food, she'd eaten it once, but she knew it was tasty, and she knew that whatever Maeve had purchased smelled like bloody sodding heaven in a takeaway bag.

Was it the pregnancy, making her this hungry? Surely not. It was far too early for anything like that, wasn't it?

She sat down and grabbed a glass, and the bottle of wine, then thought better of it. Guiltily she set the bottle down and performed a quick aguamenti on her glass, filling it with water. The last thing she needed was a retarded baby.

Standing, she turned her back to Maeve to hide her guilty blush, pulling out a couple of plates and forks, only having to hunt a little bit for the latter, and by the time she turned back to the little table her face was composed again. "Have I told you today how pretty you are?" she asked with a smirk, using what she hoped was her "smooth" voice.

"A little of everything," Maeve replied, flipping the magazine shut and shoving it back to the other side of the counter. "That's fried rice, kung pao chicken, crispy beef, drunken noodles and egg rolls," she pulled out a pair of wooden chop sticks from the bag and pointed at each box as she popped them open and starting serving her own plate.

She paused slightly as she watched Delaney eschew the wine for water and raised an eyebrow. "There is a tap, you know," she said, gesturing toward the sink on the other side of the kitchen. It's not bad." She smiled lightly, teasing Delaney for her laziness casually. "We haven't seen each other all day," she added, smirking more as she shot down the compliment.

For a moment, Delaney imagined she felt rather like a child in a Weasley's store - so much to see, to much to have, and she wanted it ALL. She served herself a little of everything, doing her best to show restraint, and half succeeding. She ended up with a plate that didn't entirely resemble the Himalayas.

"Please, darling. Can you really see me drinking tap water?" she joked, leaning in before she took a mouthful and kissing Maeve firmly on her mouth. "And please, forgive me for my grievous oversight. You're awfully pretty, you know." With one last kiss, she leaned back onto her own seat, grinning and beginning to shovel food into her mouth.

"Oh, merlin," she moaned after swallowing the first bite. "Gods, this food is good..."

"Can't imagine what I could have possibly been thinking," Maeve rolled her eyes good naturedly. Twirling her chopsticks she took a few bites of noodle before she realised the other woman was tearing through her plate at least twice as fast as she was. "It is..." she said slowly, setting down her chopsticks for her wine. "It's from a little place around the corner in London. Del," she watched, slightly surprised, at Delaney's speed, "A bit hungry?"

Maeve's comment gave Delaney pause and she stopped, mouth full, fork halfway to her lips. "Uh," she fumbled. "I haven't eaten all day, that's all. And this food is really good. I've only had Chinese once before, and that was from Two Happy Squids. Was this from a muggle place?"

She thought perhaps she better slow down before she choked. Or worse, threw up. "So... you wanna shag tonight?"

That ought to derail Maeve's train of thought.

"Royal dragon," she said, answering her inquiry with a nod. "The Squids is good too," she acknowledged, taking another sip of wine. "But I wanted the more options tonight."

The blunt question caused her eyebrows to rise again but she quickly recovered with a swig of wine and tried to play cool again. "Maybe," she said, her smirk belying her indifferent answer. "Perhaps."

"We should do something else muggle another night this week," Delaney said, her mouth only half full. "I want to watch TB, or a movie or something. Or... what else do muggles do?"

Plate emptied, she hesitated for only a moment before refilling it, this time with slightly less food. "Oh please," she teased. "You know you want me, because you know I'm going to rock your world, beautiful."

"If you'd like," Maeve shrugged, taking another bite. "I still don't have a telly but we could go to the cinema, I suppose." Even if she didn't own a television she did like watching and films especially. "I don't know what's playing, but there's generally something worth while out."

Busying herself with her food, finishing off the helpings on her plate and picked up an egg roll. "You might have to prove that claim. Don't know if I can just take your word for it."

"What's a cinema?" Delaney asked, knowing she'd heard the word before but not entirely sure what it meant. "If you say it's good, then I trust you."

Her face colored a little at the word trust. Oh, she was a shit.

"Haven't I proved myself any of the other times we've made love?" she asked, not noticing the words she'd chosen. "Or can you give yourself a better orgasm than any of the orgasms I've given you?" Her eyes twinkled, to let Maeve know she was (mostly) joking.

"It's where you go to watch a film," she explained, forgetting for a moment she had to break things down for Delaney and added, "Movies. Same things."

Maeve set her egg roll down on the plate and pushed it away, taking a long drink of wine instead, finishing the glass and refilled it before she managed to look at her. "No. Certainly...no." A few delightful images flashed through her mind and she took another drink, trying her best to get through more than a couple of hours around Delaney without ending up in bed. As wonderful as that outcome was.

The idea of movies intrigued Delaney. Apparently, they were the closest things to wizarding photographs and paintings that muggles had managed to come up with, and Delaney was interested to see how well they'd done.

Staring Maeve down, she smiled a predatory smile. "You know, I'm not even close to the end of my repertoire," she said in a low, come-hither sort of voice. "I have quite a few more tricks up my sleeves... some toys... I'm on a quest, you see." She finished her water slowly, giving her words time to marinate in Maeve's mind. "A quest to make sure your mind is so thoroughly blown that you'll never want to shag anyone else." She grinned, and speared the remains of Maeve's egg roll on her fork, finishing it in two bites.

Maeve played with the stem of her glass, at a loss for a comeback. It was enough to keep her silent for a long moment. The smile and hints were more than enough to make her overlook the dramatic presentation. She considered pointing out that she didn't want to shag anyone else anyway but thought better of it. "You're doing well so far," she tried instead, letting her leg press up against Delaney's next to hers.

Delaney gave up any pretense of waiting around, pushing her glass aside abruptly and standing, stepping close to Maeve's chair then straddling her lap. "How about now?" she breathed, pressing her front as close as she could to Maeve's, then pulling back just enough to crush their lips together.

"Doing even better," She murmured, leaning into Delaney eagerly. It certainly wasn't telly or chatting or anything mundane like she was beginning to suspect was impossible when Delaney was around, but it was quite enjoyable.

Delaney leaned her head down further, breathing hotly on Maeve's ear, then taking her earlobe between her teeth, tugging gently before sucking lightly. "And now?" she went on, giggling a little, her hand slipping between their bodies and up Maeve's shirt. "Maeve? Can I ask you something?"

Maeve moaned softly and leaned in closer to Delaney's touch. The giggle and sudden question weren't what she was expecting and she blinked, pulling back just enough to raise an eyebrow curiously. "Now?" she asked, before she could rephrase to something less surprised.

Her hand had just made its way to Maeve's breast, and she began to caress it delicately when she heard Maeve's response.

"Will you," she began huskily, "please, baby, will you... get me a drink?"

She burst into giggles, burying her face in Maeve's neck, peppering the skin there with soft kisses.
