Dean's hands were shaking. He'd had a glass of wine, but Alejandro - a young Puerto Rican wizard from the States who'd been in art school with him and shared, on and off, his flat in New York - had plucked it out of his hands as a crowd had finally started coming through the gallery and looking things over. He'd thank him later, for now he was trying to focus on the fact that there was nothing to be nervous about.

Knowing that fact didn't really help.

He tugged at his tie - simple black, with a black suit - for what was probably the thousandth time already and took a breath before patting his friend on the shoulder and heading out into the crowd to shake hands and introduce himself. He could do this; he was almost sure.

A gig! A gig! Jack was pretty damned excited about that. Ever since he had gotten the note from Dean, he had been bouncing around the flat, gathering things up so he could go. He almost forgot to put on pants, but fortunately, that stayed in the 'almost' category.

He headed down to Prospero's Muse (having no idea what exactly it was, but that didn't matter!) with his fiddle case and his guitar case. Damned pianos being too hard to just sling over the shoulder! But that was okay.

Reaching the local, he slipped through the doors and immediately started looking for Dean, so he would know where to go!

	At first, Dean didn't see him come in. He was shaking hands with a representative from the Muggleborn Aide Office - they'd helped with some of the paperwork and he was glad the bloke was here - and then saw him out of the corner of his eye a minute later. "Hey!" Jack greeted with one of his big and bright grins as Dean came his way. "How are you?" He looked arounmd the room and then waved a hand, gesturing to everything.

"This is great!" Okay, he wasn't entirely sure what 'this' was, still. But it looked pretty great! An art gallery of some sort, he could tell that much.

"Did you do all this?" he asked him curiously.

"Most of it, yeah..." He looked at the pieces on the wall, and most were his own work - a lot recent, but some that he'd brought from his years at school. "A few are some mates of mine who were in school with me, but mostly they're mine."

He couldn't help but feel a little thrill as the patrons took their time, watching the portraits. He had a mix of muggle and wizarding scenes, some charmed and some dormant.

Jack looked around again, taking a bit more time. Blue eyes darting from piece to piece (the ones he could see, because there were people all over, blocking his view of some). "This is really cool," he said, sounding impressed. He thought people who could make art were pretty great. Jack could doodle silly pictures, but that was about it!

He shrugged the shoulder which had his guitar case slung over it. "So where should I set up?" he asked.

	"Set ... oh!" Dean hadn't thought of that. He looked around and decided that the best place would be the far corner and started to move through the crowd that direction with Jack behind him. Jack followed his gaze, and bobbed his head in a nod. "That looks good," he agreed, and he let Dean lead the way over in that direction. It was rather perfect, raised to that people would be able to see where the music was coming from - and off to the side enough that he wouldn't be in the way (and people wouldn't trip over him!).

"Any particular type of music you want? Or any songs you want to hear?" Jack generally did a lot of his own stuff, but he always threw in some covers to mix things up.

	"Nothing too jarring, I guess. Anything else will work. Not loud enough that people can't talk over it to each other... about the art, you know?" Usually these things had a piano or violin or something, something quiet and classical going. That didn't really seem to Dean like it fit his style, though. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"Gotcha," Jack said in understanding. "So, no death metal then?" he said with a grin and a laugh. He didn't play anything close to that. His music was more ecclectic than that, a bit of baroque rock (especially when he had his piano). Mixing classical styles with rock and roll.

"Cool. How long should I play for?" he asked as he set down his cases and opened them up to start getting ready.

"Sure!" Jack was pretty agreeable to that. Although he probably would have done it for free (exposure and all of that!), he wasn't going to argue being paid either. He needed to pay the bills and all that, after all.

"I think I'm all set!" he said as he got his guitar hung on its strap and picked up his fiddle. "Go, mingle! Come give me a shout if anyone has any requests," he said with another flash of a smile.

Dean would really owe him for this, having music made the opening seem that much more official, more planned out, and it was a relief that it wasn't just the art and free food that would hold people's interest. 	Once he had everything set up, Jack pulled out his wand. He did a quick spell that would make the music and his voice carry (but not too loud) and then started in on his first song. (Reply to this) (Parent)

Luna had never been to a gallery opening but she had always thought that Dean Thomas had a lot of talent as an artist so she was very curious as to what he would be displaying. During her travels she had, had the opportunity to see a lot of different kinds of art and usually enjoyed most of it.

Entering Prospero's Muse, Luna was pleased with the atmosphere, it was very excited and creative. She knew she would have to congratulate Dean on making the place very welcoming.

Drew snuck into Dean's gallery looking like he didn't belong, which was incidentally exactly how he felt. He was wearing the smartest clothes he had, which was still jeans and a button down shirt with a jacket over the top, because he knew he'd never look classy and thought he'd try for maybe a little edgy... maybe not.

He felt claustrophobic in a way he didn't usually feel, and he had to undo the first few buttons of the collar of his shirt to take a breath in. He was going to look for Dean in the crowd but he caught sight of the real draw here, the art on the walls, and got lost in looking at them; Dean really did have a lot of talent.

Lavender stared up at the sign outside of Dean's new studio. A tiny smile curling on the edge of her lips, as gaze slowly fell to peer through the doorway and into the crowd. Swallowing nervously, fingers ran over the front of her white dress as she took a step the side to allow people in as she tried to work up her nerve to actually go inside. It's been years since she ventured outside of her cottage, and just to show up at a gallery filled with people? She must be mad.

Lavender could hear her heart pounding into her skull as she sighed heavily and tried to gather all her courage. That is why she was placed into Gryffindor, right? She was supposed to be a courageous lion. Swallowing nervously, she muttered "It's now or never, Lavender," and stepped into the gallery. Light blue eyes glanced briefly around the gallery before falling on a painting that looked strangely familiar. Weaving through the room, she stood before the picture, looking over the talent that Dean placed into the painting.

Harold had never been an art gallery sort of person, however, the talent behind all the work within the particular one he had been attending belonged to someone that he knew. Never being really close to Dean Thomas, but the few times that they had conversed, it was easy to tell that he was a good guy. The conclusion to support the opening didn't seem to hesistate within his mind, as he had made his way down to the building a tad after it had opened, being one to be fashionably late for events. His arrival that evening had mostly to do that he had needed to preoccuy himself with basically anything. A woman that he had thought had been beyond perfect had left him high and dry. Things didn't work out sometimes, no matter how many times that a person wished it. Eventually, Harold knew that he would feel better about the situation. The first attempt had to be accomplished at one point. That evening was the start of it though.

Glancing at the art that adorned the walls, he could tell that the talent floated through the painting for him to marvel at. Harold had seen such a skill before, but such was different than others. The opening seemed like a success as well, people causaly strolling through the vicinity, amazed at the art that had been placed peacefully before them. Distracted just slightly by a familar wave of blonde hair, Harold almost completed a double take before realizing whom the sight before him truly had been. Lavender? Harold hadn't seen in quite a while, noticing that she had still looked stunning, even from behind.

"Lavender," he spoke out, rounding to one side of her body with a bright smile spreading across his facial features. "What a pleasant surprise to see you here. Missed me?" A simple smile spread into a more charming one relatively quickly as he caught her attention for the time being, hopefully.

It was true that Megan didn't know much about art. Or the art scene, or anything like that at all. However, she did like to look at art, and she'd always thought that Dean was a good guy, so when the flier hit her in the face that morning she figured why not? A chance to dress up and support a well deserving artist.

So, putting on her best dress and cutest shoes she arrived at the gallery, even if she arrived more than halfway into the event.

Stephen didn't need an excuse to dress to the nines. He did so on a daily basis, even on days when he had the whole day off to spend lounging about his flat. Yes, even then he'd be in nice slacks, a button up shirt that was charmed crisp and stiff and some form of a button up vest as his style tended to lend it's self to an old victorian look, at best.

This meant when going out he looked even better. Took the time to slick his hair back, carried his pocket watch in his waistcoat, shined his shoes and made sure there were no wrinkles in his clothing. He hardly expected this from Stephanie as he thought her gorgeous even when she was just in a pair of pajamas and he would be proud to have her on his arm even if she was wearing just that.

The pair were strolling toward the gallery when Stephen paused at the front entrance and held the door open for Stephanie.

"After you, love, and... ah, hello!" he held the door for another girl too, a blonde looking awfully dressed up. He smiled wide.

While a lot of girls looked for excuses to dress up...Stephanie did not. In fact, she would have been just perfectly fine with dressing up in a suit just like the guys. She'd never had much use for dresses or skirts. In school, she wasn't really sure how she had managed.

Even still, this was a special occasion. It wasn't often that she got to go to art galleries, much less to openings. And this was for Dean! This was for someone that she knew, which made it that much more significant. The fact that she was going there with her permanent date only increased her excitement. She hardly minded that she was wearing a mint green dress. Of course, to compromise, she was also wearing her well-loved converse, but that wasn't anything unusual. You could put the artist in a dress, but you could not take her out of her chucks.

Grinning, she thanked her fiancee for holding the door, and immediately turned when someone walked in after her. Someone very familiar, "Megan!" Stephanie greeted happily, absently trying to tuck her hair behind her ear, even though most of it was trapped up in a messy, yet almost sophisticated bun, "It's been since the Finals, hasn't it? How are you?"

Megan's head snapped up when she heard Stephanie's voice and her face lit up. She had been hoping to run into someone that she knew here. She figured she would, after all it seemed like everyone that had ever known Dean, was here, and that meant that her chances where good. Even better that she had met the pair of them at the door.

"Hi!" she greeted as she walked into the gallery allowing others to enter as well. "I'm really glad that I ran into you guys!" she admitted. "It really has been that long hasn't it? I'm doing really well. How are you? How's the wedding planning going?" she asked happily.

"Love the shoes." she said to Stephanie when she noticed her chucks. Why didn't she think of something like that? Or at least something more practical than the heels she had on now. Oh well. "You look rather dapper Mr. Cornfoot."

Stephen practically beamed when he got that compliment and he followed Megan into the gallery with a grin stretched from ear to ear. He caught up with Stephanie and stood beside her as he took in Megan's appearance. He did remember her somewhat but she was much older than a fourth year he had DADA with, so this was a new face he needed to memorize.

"Thank you, Megan. All wedding planning questions should be directed to this one," he placed a hand at the small of Stephanie's back and sighed heavily. "I've got one task, the music..."

And he hated to admit it but, "I still haven't figured that part out yet. How have you been? How is Diana, training well enough?"

When Stephen came to her side, she automatically gravitated towards him, leaning slightly towards his side. His hand at her back was a comfort. As it had always been, every moment spent with Stephen was as easy as breathing.

Grinning up at him with a certain amount of adoration that she didn't bother to hide, she commented, "You'll figure out the music. You've still got a little over a month yet." But then she directed her attention to Megan's questions.

"I'm great, really. I mean, it's been super busy, but I can't really complain. I've gotten so much done for the wedding, even though there's still a lot left. You should look for an invitation within the next few days," she notified the pretty blond.

Megan smiled at the thought of her little one at home. It wasn't like Diana was her child or anything, but right now, she decided she could be proud of her little pup. "I'm doing rather well, excited to be here, naturally." she said gazing around the gallery. "Diana is training well enough, we're down to one accident a week now!" she said. For what it was worth, it was some sort of accomplishment in her mind.

"Sounds you got a pretty good handle on things though." Megan said impressed. She couldn't imagine trying to throw a wedding in such a relatively short amount of time. "I'll be sure to watch the mail extra closely then." Megan noted.

"Okay, being here makes me want to know more about art." she finally admitted.

It was still slightly strange to be with Stephanie in a way that was completely natural yet incredibly new. Had they not discovered this part of themselves they would be doing the exact same thing. He'd still linger near her, would even keep his hand on her back in the same fashion.

Of course now when a male walked by and eyed Stephanie his gaze was darker, sharper. He let the girls talk and then when he heard Megan's confession he lowered his gaze to her and smiled.

"Ask this one then, she's an artist... doing a mural for Ellie Cattermole's new daycare, actually."

When Stephen somewhat bragged about her recent endeavors, she blushed a bit. She wasn't certain that painting a mural qualified her to be an art expert by any means. Sure, she knew a lot about art. It was her passion...it was one of the most important things in her life. But she was not a trained artist, per say.

"I am, but I've never taken any formal classes," she amended, her tone modest, "Still...I guess I know more than the average person," she sounded almost a little uncertain. It wasn't that she lacked the confidence, but she hated to sound haughty.

"Of course, if there's a question you have that I can answer, I'd be more than happy to oblige," she shouldn't be nervous about it. Megan was a friend. But standing in this gallery...with all this fantastic art around her everywhere, it made her wonder if she was as good as the people that loved her thought she was. Still, Stephanie was firm in her beliefs.

Art was everything that she loved outside of the people that surrounded her. Of course the people would come first and foremost, but Stephanie Fawcett without art wasn't really Stephanie Fawcett at all.

Megan beamed at her friend. "How exciting! You must take pictures and show them to me. I bet it'll turn out wonderful, really." she said encouragingly.

"Come on you two, lets take a look at what Dean's put together." she said enthusiastically ready to move around a little bit. Megan was never one to sit still for very long, especially in social situations.

"Music's pretty good. Kind of a nice way to get rid of all the noise of people talking over one another." she said noticing that amidst all the people there was some music being played.
