Severus knew he would have to take the time to make a more thorough evaluation in a couple months' time, and wasn't particularly looking forward to doing so; Defense Against the Dark Arts had always been a tricky position to keep filled, of course, and the dread that he would have to find yet another replacement was constant by now, whether it was rational or not.
He flipped a page. "No, indeed." He looked up from his book again, as this was worth making perfectly clear on the first try. His expression was dry. "You'll find, as the year wears on, that I am not in the habit of inviting people up to my office for a chat. Please don't feel you need to go through any pleasantries on my account."
