Essery really should give up her flat. She knew it. Her job at Hogwarts was going to require her to live there and it didn't make sense to hold on to it just for the summers... But she liked her flat, since the divorce it had been a nice little haven, and giving it up just added to the school marm feeling, so she thought she'd keep it a while longer.
She had some things left she had to pack up to take to Hogwarts, though, so that night she was at her flat, in a ripped up pair of jeans and an old - ironically - Weird Sisters concert tee from their first tour, sorting through books and filling a box of things that had to make the move to her office and quarters there.
The knock surprised her. It surprised her even more when she opened the door. She wasn't unused to the image of drunk men hovering in her doorway smelling of the local pub - her brother was a champion, after all - but she was definitely not used to that man being Gideon Crumb.
"Gid..." She said, surprised, then she smiled at him easily and stepped back to let him in without asking. "You smell like a bottle of whiskey," She pointed out.
