Jack made an understanding face and gave a little nod of his head, as if to say 'yeah, I hear you kiddo'. "I had to work. Work gets in the way of play," he explained, following the gesture so he could look out over the mound of sand. Which was... very moundlike. And not quite castle like.
"I'm sure it was a great one," he assured the little one. "That's the good thing about sand - you can always build more." Then he looked up and over the child's head, to Don. "Well there are worse ways to spend an afternoon than playing in the sand." Which the son of a Weird Sister! SWS.
"I'm starting to see that. That was really... wow." That day had been one of the most exciting days ever. And today was shaping up to be pretty great day as well!
He laughed, and knew that Maisie wasn't just saying that either. "She'll be thrilled that you send her something," he said. He was a little jealous! But mostly happy for her.
"Oh uh, yeah. I'm a musician like you guys. Except, you know, not like you guys, because you're famous and also, a band. And I'm just me." Not famous, and Just Jack. "I play the guitar. And the fiddle. And the piano. And I sing."
