Late August was usually a flush time for Tristan. He was never swimming in money, of course, but just before the beginning of term he often found himself with a little more discretionary income, usually in the form of store credit to various shops. Grateful parents seemed to think that books made an appropriate parting gift when their children finally aged out of his services and prepared to pack off to Hogwarts - but surprisingly few of them felt the need to choose the books themselves, for which Tristan was grateful. One year he'd received four copies of An Illustrated History of Magical Devon and, seeing as they'd all been inscribed, hadn't been able to throw any of them out. He preferred certificates, and this year he had an embarrassment of them.
They would largely go to benefit his younger students. He had one particular girl in mind as he crouched in front of one of the shelves full of used Muggle children's books - seven years old, not a fantastic reader, only child of a pureblood couple and inexplicably fond of princesses - searching for something that might make for a decent reading lesson. He soon found one he thought she would appreciate (The Twelve Dancing Princesses was a little on the nose, but she wouldn't mind) and took a seat unceremoniously in the aisle to flip through. There was an Angel's Trumpet tree featured prominently on the cover, and he had some hopes of fitting in a couple of proto-Herbology lessons as well if the illustrators had managed to fit in a few more plants along the way.
