Stephanie Mariana Clarity Fawcett is quirky. (impermanence) wrote in wished,
Something about hugging Stephen had always been so natural...in fact, anything about being close to him had. Stephanie wasn't someone that gave out her affection lightly, and she wasn't known as a 'hugger', but it was just different with her best friend. She was completely at ease around him.
She laughed when he pulled her back, falling easily against his chest again, and permitting him to smell her hair, to run his fingers through it. Anyone else and they probably would have been getting a punch in the stomach. But Steph knew how much he loved the scent of her shampoo, so she just laughed softly when he breathed in, feeling slightly ticklish. Him playing in her hair made her eyes drift closed for a moment. She'd hardly admit it, but she actually had a soft spot for that...it made her feel so relaxed and almost sleepy.
"You caught me," she faux confessed, going along with it just for the hell of it. He could hold her there as long as he wanted. Just the smelling usually made her laugh, his hand in her hair like that? She didn't want to move.
"I was thinking Gryffindor. It's good to hear that he's got potential like that though, and that he's doing something with it. It always makes me a bit sad to think talent's going wasted. Maybe he'll embrace it with your guidance," she said, sounding utterly complacent. She thought about how both she and Stephen both had such rare talents...how the complemented one another and always had. Fate had destined them to be friends. It was always fate, and she knew it.
The grin was still situated on her face, but it was softening, and she was calm again as quickly as she'd become hyper. There was nothing else quite like this. There were two places in the world where she felt at peace...when she was with her art, and when she was with Stephen. Especially when she got to lay there and listen to his heart. No matter how many times she heart it there was still something fascinating about the steady rhythm. It was soothing and reassuring.
"I'll just have to ponder it a while to come up with something worthy enough of that day," she breathed out softly, "You know how I said earlier that today was perfect? Well, this just makes it even better."
