He gave a small shrug of his shoulders, "There must have been something. I mean, you...you loved him," and after a brief pause, he went on, "I was just curious about the kind of stuff you did together. You mentioned that he was Muggle, and well...," and Neville found his tongue tied at what he wanted to say. How could he explain that he wanted to try to fill in some of those gaps she had in her life? That he wanted to bring her back the things she might be missing? It would give him a foot hold, to help her do the things she'd enjoyed doing in the past, and would give him time to get to know her better while she got to know him better.
He swallowed, "I was thinking that we might do the things you did before, the activities you enjoyed doing. Before Olivia was around," and he rushed on, "But this time, we take Olivia as well. How..how does that sound?" and after another brief paused, "I'm sort of trying to ask you out on another date, but I want us to do something you liked doing before. Or maybe something you haven't had a chance to do, in a long while? I...I am going to stop talking now," he added sheepishly, grinning and stuffing a bite of sandwich into his mouth.
