"Hannah," he said, as he realized what she'd been experiencing. He hadn't thought about her fiance; it had been a couple of years, and he could tell she had been sad but he'd had no notion that she'd been thinking about him. He wondered what they had done that had reminded her of him; he thought he would ask her more about him, some other time.
"Hannah, I just saw you there, after dancing with you," he began, "And I wanted...well, never mind what I wanted," he said, stepping closer to her. He put out a hand and found her free one and carefully, he raised it to his mouth, and he gently kissed her hand with his eyes steady on her face, "I certainly have no notion of what I am doing but I do know that I like you, very much so and I want to spend more time with you. Can we start there?" he asked, lowering their joined hand but not letting her's go.
