He leaned against the counter, pausing before pouring out the drink, "Of course, Hannah. Why would someone freak out? She's just a little kid," he said as he noted Olivia approach him, her hands lifting up. He bent down and picked her up, putting her into the cradle of his arm, "Yes, they are my flowers," he said, glancing at Hannah for some guidance on what else he should say.
"You have flowers at home too? What else do you have at your house? Did you get any pets?" he said, asking Olivia but looking over at Hannah for confirmation, "I still have Trevor, my toad somewhere. He's getting old, and tends to sleep out in the atrium."
Neville paused, to let the child answer him, and then still holding her, he looked over at Hannah, "You don't get out much? I guess you don't like leaving her at home. But you could still go on a picnic at the park? Or go to the beach to find seashells?" he said, turning to address the little girl but really asking Hannah, sneaking small glances at her as he spoke to Olivia. He wasn't sure what he was doing, but he found he wanted to help Hannah get out more, to have the fun she was missing because he knew, he was missing that kind of fun too.
