It took Remus a few seconds to place the face and process the look of shock on the young man's face. Finally, the memory fell into place and Remus smiled widely.
"Mr. Hopkins," he said cheerfully. "It's been quite some years. I didn't expect to run into you here!"
He had vague memories of the boy in his Defense class. He tried to pay equal attention to all the students, but there were naturally those who stood out in his mind. Wayne, unfortunately, wasn't one of those few, but Remus had a recollection of him being bright and kind.
"You'll have to tell me what you know about jazz," he told Wayne. "I'm looking for an old album by Coltrane."
