"I can't HURT it!" Dean argued, pulling at her when she collapsed onto him. Which wasn't easy, really. She was all wet and the sweater she wore slipped oddly - it made it hard to get a hold on her.
Of course that was just made all the harder when she was suddenly plucked out of his arms and dangled in the air. Which looked, Dean noted with some small portion of his mind really bloody uncomfortable.
He couldn't even reach her to try to pull her down again, which left him nothing to do but go for his wand again. Dean still really didn't want to hurt the squid - plus he wasn't sure HOW to hurt it, other than stinging its waving legs with a hex or two. He'd try to levitate her away, but that might turn into a tug of war, too.
He settled for sending another stunning spell - stronger this time, and following it with a Rictusempra.
The stun still didn't seem to do loads, but the tickling charm, at least, had an effect. The tentacles waved wildly and the water bubbled, and then the squid dropped Daphne - more or less on top of Dean. He grunted, both of them hitting the water - though Daphne had a Dean cushion, at least.
Dean managed to get a nose full of water in the process, and he sneezed as he wrapped his arms back around her, scrambling to his feet and dragging Daphne back through the water and to the shore, then back far enough that the reaching squid-bits couldn't grab at either of them.
He was in a hurry, and she was wet and so was he. It wasn't as if he MEANT for his hands to slip as much as they did - he was just trying to help! But he still managed to have hands in soft, chest-areas he wasn't really supposed to, and then just a little lower than her back when he almost lost his grip after realizing he'd accidentally groped. "You okay?" Dean asked awkwardly, letting her go carefully when they were out of the danger zone.
The squid's tentacles were waving about. Dean thought they looked. . . disappointed?
