Memorial Park Statue Vandalized
Stenton Fenley

Early this morning vendors setting up morning stalls in Memorial Park found a harrowing sight reminiscent of the darkest times of Wizarding Britain. The Victory Day statue of war hero Harry Potter was vandalized in the overnight hours. What had depicted Potter standing in victory depicted, this morning, the hero lying prone with what appeared to be a crude dark mark hovering over him.

The first wizards who attempted to transfigure the statue to its original state found that it had been warded with a blasting charm. Tuppence Swivel, proprietor of Memorial Alley's Tuppence Swivel's, was transported to St. Mungo's to treat burns from the attempt, while two others were treated on site by mediwizards.

The statue was discovered at five this morning, and by ten this morning Aurors had managed to remove the blasting hex and retransfigure the statue. Scupltor Digberry Edwards is expected this afternoon to add residual charms to the statue to avoid any further defacement. While the Ministry is officially considering this a prank in very poor taste, anyone with information about this act of vandalism is asked to contact the Ministry of Magic, Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
