This could totally be her room - she was already imagining how she could redecorate so that it was really hers - things she'd do that her mum would never let her do to her room at home. "I mean, after I get a job and all. Which I'll definitely be doing soon!" She didn't want Maisie to think she was going to be a freeloader.
