Entry tags:!1998: 05, bill weasley, fleur delacour, percy weasley

Who: Bill Weasley, Percy Weasley, other family/friends may tag in later
Where: Saint Mungo's
When: Early afternoon
What: Visiting
Rating: PG

Bill woke to the steady rhythms of healing spells buzzing around his body and the glowing light indicating his vitals that hovered nearby. The pain potion he'd been given earlier was fading and he could feel his mangled leg begin to throb. His whole body had a dull ache that didn't seem to want to quit, even with potions, but the bad sort of pain was mostly controlled.

He wanted to sit up, maybe read a bit or listen to the wireless, but the potions made him sleepy and sluggish, and all he'd managed to do really was eat and then go back to napping. Eat, nap, nap, potion, nap, potion, eat, nap, nap, potion, eat, nap, sleep, and repeat. A day at Saint Mungo's.

Fleur'd gone to get herself some lunch and to check in with Gringotts (who'd kindly given her a few weeks reduced hours to spend more time with Bill). Groggy and bored with the hospital, Bill tried to strain his neck to get a look at his leg. He couldn't really feel it or move it, and the Healers had said little about what kind of function he'd expect to regain. They'd said even less about what the implication of a non-transformed werewolf bite would be except that they didn't expect he'd transform. The full moon was still two full weeks away, so Bill was trying not to dwell on the possible outcomes.

He was just beginning to doze off again when he heard the door. Technically it was visiting hours, but he'd seen most of his family recently and wasn't expecting anyone but Fleur. It was with both delight and great surprise that he saw Percy standing in the door.

"Hey!" he croaked, trying to shift a little to see his brother better. "C'mon in; I won't bite."

"No, no," Bill said, pushing himself up on the pillows a little. "I won't bite, I promise."

He looked down at the pile of gifts with a small grin.

"You didn't have to do this, Perce, but thanks. These are wonderful. I'm finally able to stomach these sorts of things, so the sweets are ace."

He gestured to the chair next to the bed.

"Make yourself comfortable," he said. "I'm feeling okay, thanks. Much better than a few days ago. Still don't know about the leg but the Healers are being pretty honest about it and they think it'll heal to a decent functionality, so that's good. I'm not really expected to be running foot races anytime soon though."

"How're you? It's been quite a while."

Percy looked to took the seat gingerly, sitting so he was not really settled in the seat but more perched on it, leaning forward a bit.

"Of course I had to do this, Bill. I mean, you're my brother," Percy said, pausing as he tried to think of how to word what he was feeling. How could he capsulize all of the feelings he had for man who'd been his role model? Percy was not a coward, expect for admitting his own personal faults, and here he was faced with them. Why had it been so long since he'd seen Bill? Percy knew it stemmed back to that argument with his Dad, and thus his journey away from the family. Percy swallowed a bit, uncomfortable but wanting to make this right, "It has been too long. And I'm sick to death. If something had happened to you...and we couldn't be talking like this...Bill, I don't think I could live with myself."

Percy swallowed and pressed on, "I am sick of being estranged, of my own choice."

He paused again, "I hate being apart from..well....from all of you," and he looked at Bill in the face, "Can you forgive me? I've been such a bloody fucking idiot, supporting the idiocy and the lies that the Ministry has been pumping out, pursuing and enforcing. Bill, can I make things right between you and me at least?"

It was a mouthful, and Percy felt a part of his soul was laid out, raw and vulnerable to his older brother. Bill could accept or reject him; Percy fervently hoped it was acceptance that he was get. He was at the edge, ready to crumble if his older brother would say no. Percy was tired, bone weary, of being ostracized from the family.

"Hey," Bill said gently. "Don't sweat it. Of course I forgive you. We're all apt to be dolts about things one in a while...I mean, we're Weasleys, right? And as for worrying about me, don't. I'll be fine. I'm a lot tougher than Greyback wagered, I think."

He reached out a hand stiffly and patted Percy's knee.

"You should talk to mum and dad. Mum frets about you almost as much as she does about me now. And I know Fred and George could do with a visit. I think, if you ask, you'll find that they'll all forgive you pretty easily."

He laughed.

"Hey, if it took this happening to me to bring you around, I'll grin and bear it. It's nice to have you back, Perce."

Percy ran a shaky hand through his hair and gave his brother a weak smile, "So, that's it?" he said, taking in a big breath and letting it out, "That wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be," he said and he put his hand over Bill's and gave a big squeeze.

"I think I'm good with the twins. It's the rest of the family who would probably just as soon spit on me as say hello," he said, his face falling slightly, "I mean, Mum is an angel. I hope I get to see her here," he said wistfully, and he let his eyes find Bill's, "You are loads tougher than that rotter, Bill. You could have kicked his ass easily I think."

Percy took another breath, feeling his head clearing more, "Well, I might be back, with more free time, than everyone might expect. I'm ready to just ditch the whole rot. It's rotten there Bill; the place stinks to high heaven."

"That's it," Bill said. "Hospital makes you all mushy and easy-going. And no one will spit on you, not even Charlie. Certainly not Dad or Gin."

He laughed a little at the imagined scene.

"And if you ditch, I might be able to wrangle you up something at Gringotts. I mean, that place isn't in the best of shape now either but it's better than the Ministry itself. Or if you want to stick it out, it'd be useful to have someone on the inside for the Order."
